The Impact of the Civil War on North Carolina

In the 1850 many people wanted slavery. In America the south and north were friends. They had a dissagrement on if they should have slavery or not. They started a war that killed many people.In December 1860 ,they decided to secede ,or withdraw from the Union or the United States of America.

More than 80 battles were fought in NC.About 90,000 soldiers fought for Bentonville,4,000 died. More than 120,000 NC cidizens fought for there rights .About 15,000 NC cidizens fought for the Union.Over 5,000 of these where African Americans.Some NC people supported the Union some people where for the Confetarcy.

Slavery is the practice of holding people and forcing people to work aginst there will.The south had issues with the slavery. North had 2,128,948 soldiers and the South had 1,082,119 solders that helped the North to win.

The North had about 360,222 solders that died.The South had about 260,000 that died. North Carolina seceded on May 20. The Union got 13 dollars a month. There were 1522 medal of honor to the troops.

In the war a lot of people died and so did there remaining towns cidizens. People needed to live some were else because of the civil war.

The war was very big and it was WRONG. The places in the USA was destroyed by the NC Civil War.

Dead Soldiers

The soldiers fought for there rights and beliefs. Soldiers wore tattered clothes. Solders ate moldy salty crackers called hardtack.The solders slept on the ground witch means they slept on muddy even snowy ground.

PEOPLE WERE WHANTED FOR THE NAVY

People where wanted for the Navy. What helped the Union was that they would get more solders . But the Confederacy didn’t.
