Vol: 7, No: 1-2 (Double Issue) January-December 2015
It is a matter of immense pleasure for me to join Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology family as its head. I take this opportunity to welcome new students joining the University for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. While entering a university most of such students move away from the folds of their family for the first time and face the challenges of higher studies as well as a new atmosphere. But let me give them the assurance that they would find a new family of their teachers, seniors and peers here on the campus and would be helped in all possible ways to face those challenges and overcome all the difficulties. The serene and pollution free environment that the University provides will prove to be an inspiring setting for wonderful achievements not only in their professional careers but also in their overall growth as good human beings. Through a synergetic fabric of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities we wish to bring out the best in our students and hone and polish all their hidden and visible talents and skills so as to develop their confidence to become responsible and morally upright citizens of the country, ready to serve the society in the best possible manner.Newsletter of any organisation is window to its world. It reflects the activities in the organisation that indicate the product and services generated by the organisation for consumption of the whole world. And in any organisation it is the product that forms its brand ambassador. Such a brand is representative of the collaborative effort of all the stakeholders in the activities of the organisation. Education sector is no exception to this rule where the product and the buyer are the most important of the stakeholders, the students and the employers. But it is the contribution of those in-between that cannot be ignored. It is this team that has been responsible for steadfast increase in physical and academic infrastructure of the University and ensuring at the same time to maintain the quality standards of education in accordance with recognised international standards. For all these contributions of the University the entire team needs to be congratulated for building up the University brand through such newsletters.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar
I heartily welcome you to our university, a splendid temple of learning. We at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal are committed to open vast avenues of learning, especially in cutting edge technologies with thrust on creation and innovation. It is the innovation that can lead any country towards development and help attain a remarkable position on the world map. It is said that much celebrated Information Age is now over and we are now in the creative era, where speed of innovation is the only key to sustainable development. But we have also to remember that knowledge is one of the most powerful tools to succeed, so invest your time and efforts to identify appropriate competencies based on your interest, aptitude and social values associated with them. We, with our committed faculty and staff assure you our full support and enough freedom to explore your full potential. The realization of your potential will definitely empower you to face the challenges of the future. We all are well aware about the need of quality education and conducive environment for learning. For this purpose remote centres of IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras are established within the University for conducting Online Trainings and lectures planned and delivered by IIT Faculties through ICT means. It is good to adopt scientific approaches of west to solve the problems and for development, but we should not underestimate our own Indian way of thinking and indigenous philosophy of life which lays emphasis on “olq/kSo dqVqEcde~” and well being of every individual, i.e., “loZtu fgrk;] loZtu lq[kk;” We
must remain deeply connected to our roots and ethical values. This will help us succeed in life on professional as well as personal front. Today on a global level we can sense that the world is passing through great crisis of moral values, insensitive exploitation of natural resources, unprecedented climate changes, etc. which pose a serious threat to the human race and its comfortable existence. The youth of the country are expected to act as problem solvers, organizers and innovators to shape the society to sustain us for the future.Last but not the least, the ambitious schemes of government of India like “Swachh Bharat”, “Digital India, ” “Make in India” and “Quality Education to All” , envisaged by our Hon'ble Prime Minister will
sthelp us attain again our ancient glory with the role of “fo'o xq:” in 21 century. We see you all as a vital
partner in and significant contributor to the India's quest for progress and prosperity.

mesmerized the audience with their rocking performances during
university's annual cultural extravaganza, Rhythm, held in the month of
November every year. A page inside covers the story with memorable
selected pictures of the event.
