Who's. Who in the Cast. . . . MARK RYDELL (Tom) well known as "Jeff Baker" by his millions of fans, has starred on CBS-TV's da time serial. AS T H E WORLD TURNS for t i e past four years. Mark Rydell i s the third actor from AS T H E WORLD TURNS to ap ear in a production at the Grand Theatre in suTlivan. On the New York stage. tlle multi-talented Mr. Rydell has been seen in productions of SEAGULLS OVER SORRENTO, CLERAMBARD. HANDFUL O F FIRE and MOONBIRDS. Summer theatre-goers have seen him in productions of BLUE DENIM and COMPULSION. Mr. Rydell's television career encompassed every major television program of the last decade. His memorable performance in Reginald Rose's CRIME IN T H E STREETS is still remembered as a video highl~ght. Mark. along with his co-star, John Cassevetes, repeated his role in the film versEon of the teen-age story. One of the most dynamic of the new wave of stage directors is youthful Mark Rydell. Mark made his directorial bow, in stylish fashion, last season with the rovocative presentation of Ar- nold Wesker's RBOTS in New York. Actor-di- rector Rydell has extended himself into still an- other field. Now actor, now d~rector, now song- writer, he has composed a po ular tune called "Penny" which is used on AB T H E WORLD TURNS. An accomplished musician, he ap- proached his sonft-writing as no stran er to the field. Active wit the d~rectors and pfaywrights units of the Actor's Studio. Mark has studied with many of the top tutors in theatre including Sanford Meimer, Martha Graham. Harold Clur- man. Robert Lewis, Lee Strasberg. Elia Kazan and N. Richard Nash. Born and raised in New York City he is a graduate of the Bronx High School of' Science. attended the University oi Chicago. Juilliard School of Music, the New School of Social Research and the Neighborhood Playhouse. Though Mark Rydell continues as a leading actor on television, he now learns that being a director consumes the greatest amount of time for his well-directed energy. The Grand Theatre in Sullivan is the only summer theatre that Mark has worked into his busy achedule this summer season and he is pleased to be able to appear in one of the great dramas of the Amer- ican theatre, T H E GLASS MENAGERIE.
DOLORES WILSON (Amanda) makes her stage debut in a non-ninging role in the Grand Thea- tre's production of T H E GLASS MENAGERIE. When Miss Wilson made her Metropolltan Opera debut in the Sprin of 1954 in the title role of LUCIA D E L A M ~ E R M O O R . the success that

she hsd had in Europe was repeated. The public responded with an ovation, especially after the notoriously difficult Mad Scene. while the *New York cr~t ics went all out in their praise. Do- lores Wilson Scores s s Lucia" was the headline in the New York Times by Howard Taubman. This review went on to may: "The Metropolitsn has come up with a good one . . . She sang a ,$ Lucia of uncommon merit . . There should be joy s t the Met box-office,'for Miss Wilson sp-
r ars to have what i t takes to become a bag avorite . . . Her voice ia fresh in quality,
large in size and flexible in production . . . re- finement of singing . ;, . delicate texture . . . sensitivity . . The most dramatic moment in the life of'the youthful soprano came when she assumed the role of Susanna in T H E MARRIAGE OF FIGARO a t the Metropolitan on three hours notice, without ever havin sung the role on any stage previously. Miss b i l s o n created the title role in D o u ~ l a s Moor's T H E BALLAD O F BABY DOE at Central City, Colo- rado in the summer of 1956 and has more recent- ly appeared at the St. Louis Muni Opera, and has won acclaim on T H E VOICE O F FIRE- STONE and T H E ED SULLIVAN SHOW on TV. Lant summer she made her musical comedy debut as Sonia in T H E MERRY WIDOW for SUMMER O F MUSICALS. Before returning to Sullivan this summer to appear as Amanda in T H E GLASS MENAGERIE and Mrs. Anna in T H E KING AND I. Dolores was starred 8s Magnolia in SHOW BOAT with Do-othy Dand- ridge a t the Dayton. Ohio Summer Theatre.
CYNTHIA TOWNE (Lsurs) returned to the Grand this seaaon to appear as Estelle Novick in T H E TUNNEL O F LOVE. Miss Towne is re- membered by local audiences for the variety of roles nhe created at SUMMER OF MUS- ICALS in 1957 when she appeared as Jane Ash- ,?. ton in BRIGADOON Sophi in ROBERTA and Helen in W O N D E R F ~ L T+N. has cla~med much of Cynthia s time during the last few years as well as rgdio. TV and motion pictures. The past three +rimers she has been appearing a t the Keweensd PIayhouse in Calu- met. Michi an under the direction of her h.7-- " band Paul Barry who was also a member of the com&ny at the brand in 1957.
