It is estimated that visual impairment (VI) affects 2.5% of the population.

One government school for the VI (300 students, gr.1 to 12) One KG for VI children (NGO) One training center for women with VI.

GERMAN JORDANIAN UNIVERSITY

VISION TRAINING CENTER

PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA

Foreign &Jordanian lecturers

Classes in Arabic & English

4 month program (Oct to Jan); 62 graduates

Two profiles:

A: Education & Rehabilitation of Persons with VI.B: Rehabilitation for Persons with Low Vision.

PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA

MASTER’S PROGRAM 2 year program with research

(thesis) 12 students, 5 graduates Students are optometrists,

occupational therapists, special ed., biomed. engineer.

TAILORED TRAINING COURSES

For professionals with already a basic knowledge in the field.

Based on observation, case studies, and individual work.

VISION TRAINING CENTERVision rehabilitation in 3 steps:1. Interview medical history needs &

expectations.2. Assessment and provision of visual

devices; 3. Advices and training on the use of

devices and on skill development (visual, mobility, daily living or communication).

THIS IS WHAT I SEE

From September 2012 until today: 63 persons with VI 56 devices

distributed: 24 spectacles 15 hand

magnifiers 12 filters 3 telescopes 2 electronic

devices.
