The Galapagos Islands are a unique place in the world. There are many animals that live there that can be found nowhere else in the world. As you view the pictures and descriptions, see if you can match them to the questions on your Galapagos Animal Sort worksheet.

Galapagos Sea LionI am a type of seal with external ears. The islands are a warm place for me to live and raise my pups.

Mola-molaI am a most unusual fish. I am very large, flat, have a small tail, and two huge fins. I enjoy the warm waters of the Galapagos.

Marine IguanaI live on land, but feed in the sea. My appearance made me popular as a monster in old movies about prehistoric monsters.

Sally Light-foot CrabMy name tells you I move quickly across the black, volcanic rock I live on by the sea. And as you can see, I am brightly colored.

Spotted RayI have an unusual shape, and my spots help me to blend in with the bottom of the ocean.

Pilot WhaleI am a mammal who looks like a fish, but I breathe through a hole on the top of my head.

Blue-footed BoobyMy colorful feet make me look funny, but I use them to dance to attract a mate.

Nazca BoobyCompared to my cousin, my feet are plain. It is my mask that makes me stand out.

Great Frigate BirdI have a red pouch on my throat that I inflate to attract mates.

Galapagos TortoiseI grow to be quite large and can live for up to 100 years.

Lava LizardI live in sandy areas and on volcanic rock My red neck is an eyecatcher. Insects are my favorite meal.

FlamingoI love to wade looking for food. In fact, it is what I eat that gives me my bright pink color.

PenguinYou usually think of me as living in cold places. However, I am the only one of my kind who lives along the equator.

AlbatrossWhile I am very graceful in the air, I am rather clumsy on land. I spend most of the year at sea feeding.

FinchWhile visiting the islands, Darwin studied us. He determined there were 13 different species of us, each adapted to live and feed in one certain area.
