BOSTON -- President Barack Obama gave Massachusetts a federal disaster declaration Monday after a massive pipe ruptured over the weekend, disrupting drinking water supplies to 2 million Boston-area residents. The designation frees up federal money to help local communities respond to the crisis.

A MessageOn May 2nd Pastor Rob informed us during his

series Good News for the Poor “ You Can Make a Difference”, that there are parts of the World where true water crises do exist.

(contaminated) water for their families instead of being able to attend school

A True Water Crisis~ 884 million people worldwide lack access to safe

water, and 2.5 billion lack basic sanitationmore than 4,200 children die each DAY ( every 20

seconds) from diarrheal diseases caused by unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation facilities (UNICEF).

~ 88 % of all illnesses in the developing world are caused by lack of access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene

WHO states that access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene can reduce the infant mortality rate by 65%

Water Crisis in Aber, Uganda !

Uganda ranks among the top 25 countries in the world whose children die before their 5th Birthday.

Aber community development area is located in North Central Uganda ~ 63,720 people live in 95 villages

When asked what projects the residents of Aber needed to be worked on right away, water and education were their priorities.

Aber Community

A SolutionWorld Vision’s (world wide) Water and Sanitation ProjectA responsible and experienced approach to solving

Aber’s Water Crisis through :education community involvement constructing new borehole water wells and repairing

existing wells other measures to ensure stability of the environment

surrounding the water source.

When World Vision drilling teams strike water, entire villages erupt in celebration. “God has now blessed us with clean water in our village,” says Massa Lamin, a volunteer pump attendant in Sierra Leone. Nobody knows the value of a deep well better than Massa. She lost four of her children to diarrhea caused by contaminated water.

Deep Well

Deep Well ~ $13,700 (2009) A deep well fitted with a hand pump can provide

up to 2,800 gallons of safe water a day to benefit as many as 300 people!
