BEHIND THE SCENES

So a funny thing happened on the way to creating this book.

I almost lost all of the source material to a coffee spill.

After that (almost) traumatic experience I felt it necessary to

archive, if just in small doses, the thought process of how the

book came to be.

The early stages of a project have always been the most

fascinating to me; it’s where you see alternate paths that could

have been taken and evolutions of the characters involved. I

always loved the pencil sketches and uncolored images the

best. It allowed your imagination to fill in the blanks and create

what you thought was best for the character.

I discovered this love too late in life, and I have decided to

rectify that with future generations here with the Boy and his

Dreaming Key. I believe it’s important for kids to see just how

their favorite things came to be, and hope that in seeing the

creation process here will allow them to start taking the baby

steps needed in creating their own heroes and adventures.

Every child has an active imagination waiting to be unlocked.

Sometimes, It just takes the right Key.
