Principal’s Message This is our last newsle er for the year and the last
newsle er I will write. A er many Husky Stars at
Huskisson Public School and newsle ers at other
schools, it’s me to hang up the pen or more accurately
the key board.
We have had a very full week with two major and
significant events happening.
YearSixFarewellWhat a successful and enjoyable night at the Huskisson
Bowling Club. Our Year 6 students dressed very smart for
the occasion and looked very grown up. Mr Vidler and
Mr Frost both congratulated the cohort on their posi ve
contribu on to the classroom this year and to the school
during their me at Huskisson Public School.
Both teachers emphasised what a pleasure the students
had been to teach and wished them well at their future
high schools. They par cularly stressed how important it
was for them to make decisions that would make a
posi ve contribu on to their growth and well‐being as
well as their school community.
My concluding speech asked them to be an ambassador
for themselves, their family and their school community.
I finished by saying Stay Strong, Stay Smart, look forward
“The future is yours to make”
A er the speeches and a great meal, Mr Williams led a
Barn Dance involving teachers and staff. It was great to
see all students not only par cipate, but enjoy
themselves. The evening ended with some high energy
dancing to disco and rock, before parents arrived to join
in the last dances for the night.
Thank you staff and parents who helped plan and
organise the highly successful night. I know the students
thoroughly enjoyed themselves and appreciated your
efforts and felt very valued.
Year6FinalAssemblyNext Tuesday we have our special assembly for Year 6.
Each student will receive a special presenta on and have
the opportunity to reflect on their me at Huskisson
Term 4 Week 9, 12 December 2019
Sydney Street, Huskisson NSW 2540

Public School. Each student will place a padlock which
has their name engraved on it, on the gate near the
sports shed. This tradi on started last year and will be a
feature each year at this special assembly.
AnnualPresentationAssemblyOur Annual Presenta on Assembly was a huge success.
I thank Vincen a High School for their generosity in
allowing us to use the hall without charge. The hall
allows us to set‐up the evening as a formal occasion and
reflect the importance of the occasion.
The evening recognised the special talents and
a ributes of many our students. Behind each award
was a long process of each teacher deciding who they
would finally choose for the award. Each teacher when
presen ng their awards, emphasised they had so many
students worthy of the awards, but had to make that
final difficult decision. This is a problem we like to have.
It means our standards and expecta ons are high and
the students receiving the awards fully deserve them.
Congratula ons to all our award recipients.
The night concluded with the announcement of our
Captains and Vice Captains for 2020. Congratula ons to
Evie G – Captain
Jake D – Captain
Keshna B – Vice Captain
Ashley F – Vice Captain

Both staff and students look forward to your leadership
next year. You are all very worthy of your elected
leadership role.
Our current leadership team addressed the large audience
and spoke of their enjoyment and rewarding experiences
as Captains and Vice Captains this year.
On behalf of all staff congratula ons; Kymmie, Daniel,
Kelly and Hayden your efforts have been highly valued. I
look forward to hearing about your leadership
achievements in high school.
The night was very special to me, as it was my last
Presenta on Assembly and my last opportunity to address
a large sec on of the school community.
In my address I spoke of my re rement as a new phase in
my life and an opportunity to reinvent myself
I felt very valued on the night and very special. I received
many compliments and a special performance from the
Infants students who sang a beau ful song about how
they would like me to stay. Each primary class presented
me with a book of poems about my me as Principal and
some of the special moments they remembered. When
reading them I laughed, cried and felt very humble.
My biggest achievement of the night was not going to
tears, especially during my response speech. I turned to
the Infants a er their performance and said “That’s what
I’m going to miss” “I turned to the primary classes while
holding up the book of poems and said “This is what I’m
going to miss”. “This is why I chose teaching”.
I feel very privileged to be re ring from a posi on I s ll
love. I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to
make a difference to lives of so many students. I feel very
privileged that many of those students s ll come up to me
as teenagers, young adults, parents, tradies and
professionals to talk to me about how much they enjoyed
having me as their teacher, Deputy Principal or Principal. I
feel very privileged to re re as Principal of Huskisson
Public School. Beau ful students, amazing staff and a
suppor ve, caring school community.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, I have memories that I
will cherish forever.
My final words, for my final newsle er Stay Strong, Stay
Smart

HUSKY STAR NEWSLETTER TEXT
3 successful years of Primary Ethics classes at Husky Public
This week marks the third full year that Primary Ethics classes have been happening at Husky Public. Thanks
to Glenn and the staff for helping us to facilitate classes for those students not a ending Scripture on Thurs‐
day. Congratula ons to our volunteer teachers – Julie, Sherry, Ian and Nicky and we are thrilled to welcome
Anne e Cape to the team as a volunteer teacher in Term 1 next year. This means that we will be able to re‐
commence ethics classes for Kindergarten students in 2020, a er not having enough volunteer teachers in
2019.
Ethics classes support the children to develop the skills of cri cal thinking. Students are learning to view ethi‐
cal issues from different angles, carefully listen to what others have to say, respec ully disagree with others if
their opinion differs, build on the ideas of other students and be able to reasonably support their argument.
If you are interested in enrolling your child in ethics classes, please contact the school office. For more infor‐ma on about Primary Ethics, or if you want to do something life‐changing in 2020 by becoming a volunteer ethics teacher yourself, please visit: www.primaryethics.com.au or feel free to contact me on 0413 623 383.
