Term 2 Week 6 Newsletter 15 7th June 2019 PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Yes, I still exist.
After a week in thongs and board-shorts, the weather has been a rude shock to the system but it is good to be back. I went all gooey on Monday morning when I walked into the playground and had to wade through a sea of hugs from our kids to get to the teacher on duty. It helped remind me why I choose to do the job I do.
I would be very remiss if I didn’t publicly embarrass my staff for the way they kept the school running in my absence. In particular, I must thank Mr Hieke. Leaving your school in the hands of someone else comes with an incredible amount of trust and is a difficult thing to do. I have colleague Principals who have whole teams of Assistant Principals and come back from leave to a mess. I will simply say I came back to a school that was exactly where it should be and I am incredibly thankful for it.
As you have noticed, the fence is up around the library and we are waiting for the work to begin. Unfortunately, the weather has held up a number of jobs at other schools and pushed us back. At this stage, we are still able to access the library although that may change at short notice. With the work beginning shortly though, parking will again be an issue. Please ensure we are all driving safely around the school and keep an eye out for our kids. Also, as tempting as it is, please refrain from parking in the turning circle area outside the office.
With the long weekend comes Star Struck. Mrs Robinson and her band of dancers have been practising like mad and I am sure will do us proud. I want to thank Mrs Robinson for again taking on this role and giving our students the opportunity. She wouldn’t want me to point out how many lunch times she gives up to run rehearsals, the late night organisation or the extra hours that go into the performance week.
On a final note, while I was away, I saw a baby shark... Cue the song!
Have a toasty week. Mark Cridland Principal

Mount Kanwary Public School are holding a learning afternoon on the 20th June for students with Bricks 4 Kidz.
Session will start at 3.30 and conclude at 4.30.
Students from other schools would need to be supervised by their own parents. The session is $12.50 and we have limited space. So it's first in, first served. To attend , please email us on
mtkanwary-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au Students love our interactive Bricks 4 Kidz models.
This unit is all about the fun of doing something with what you’ve built. From a spinning top to a spin art model, kids will love playing with their creations!
But don’t worry, we sneak in lots of learning too – understand-ing probability in the “3-in-a-row” game model and learning about friction and symmetry with the spinning top lesson. Don’t miss out!
Canteen news Thank you to our canteen helpers, you’re doing a great job keeping our children happy with their Friday lunch orders. But, we are short on helpers for the next 3 weeks. If anyone could spare some time to help out at either lunch or recess (doesn't have to be both), we would really appreciate it. We have tea and coffee to keep you warm and you’re protected from this the wind. If you can help, contact Brooke 0417 446 461. A text is fine or come and see Katrina in the canteen this Friday if you want to know what's involved. Your child would love to see you in the canteen.
CANTEEN ROSTER FOR 2019 Please contact Brooke 0417 446 461 if you are available to volunteer in our school canteen
