3. Review: Following each story, students will share reader responses through print and orally
Students will be introduced to Mo Willems and several of his books, both print and online, to read and respond to.
1. Introduce Mo Willems . Review the definition of an author and illustrator. Teacher will show Photo Story presentation about Mo Willems. It will include a short biography on Mo Willems and how he came to be an author/illustrator. We will show some of the strategies when creating a book.
2. Tell the children you will read a book to the class written by Mo Willems. Set the purpose . “While reading I would like you to think about what you like and/or dislike about the story.
3. Read the story and discuss opinions of book through turn and talk. Share out some thoughts as a whole group.
4. Re-open Photo Story and add written opinions as a class through shared writing.
