Alien Hand Syndrome

Alien hand syndrome (AHS) is a rare neurological disorder that causes hand movement without the person being aware of what is happening or having control over the action. The afflicted person may sometimes reach for objects and manipulate them without wanting to do so, even to the point of having to use the healthy hand to restrain the alien hand.

Progeria

It is an extremely rare genetic disorder wherein symptoms resembling aspects of aging are manifested at a very early age. Progeria is caused by a single tiny defect in a child's genetic code, but it has devastating and life-changing consequences. On average, a child born with this disease will be dead by the age of 13. As they see their bodies fast forward through the normal process of ageing they develop striking physical symptoms, often including premature baldness, heart disease, thinning bones and arthritis

Human Werewolf Syndrome

It is also known as Hypertrichosis. This is a very rare syndrome with only about 50 cases reported worldwide since the Middle Ages. The syndrome may have limited medical significance, but it definitely causes embarrassment that could result in a significant emotional burden.

Tree Bark Skin Disorder

It is however true for some people who suffer from Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis , an inherited skin disorder characterised by eruptions of wart-like lesions that may occur anywhere on the body. One type of lesions are reddish brown and have scaly surfaces and irregular borders, while the second type are seen on sun-exposed skin and are often slightly raised, brown coloured lesions resembling tree bark.

These lesions are caused by infection with a subtype of human papillomavirus (HPV).

FOP

Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is a rare genetic disease that affects the connective tissue. The body causes fibrous tissue, such as ligament, muscle, and tendons, to become ossified, or to change into bone when damaged. This means that a fall can cause bone to grow within the muscles and tendons throughout the body. It is the only disease known that causes one type of organ system to turn into an entirely different one.

Osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis

Osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis (OOKP) (also known as "tooth in eye" surgery. is a medical procedure to restore vision in the most severe cases of corneal and ocular surface patients. It includes removal of a tooth from the patient or a donor. After removal, a lamina of tissue cut from the tooth is drilled and the hole is fitted with optics. The lamina is grown in the patients' cheek for a period of months and then is implanted upon the eye
