MANISA

Tarzan of Manisa name is Ahmeddin Carlak. 1899 – Samarra He named himself as Ahmet Bedevi. He was Turcoman whose origin was Kirkuk.

Poor and alone. He lived in a small hut which was covered

with newspapers, and hut included just a bed which was made with cedar wood on Spil mountain. He had not any other thing.

He would used everything which is natural ,and he even made parfume on his own from oil of plants which he liked.

He took a shower with cold water, and he kept himself fit.

He would walk around with just shorts and rubber shoes everytime.

He liked sports, reading, cinema and he was open-minded and skillful person.

In 1st June, 1933 he was hired as asistant gardener in Manisa Municipality. Even if he was poor, he would buy food and clothing for poor families.

He participated in 1st World War and War of Independence. He had a medal of independence.

Enemy destroyed and burned forests of Manisa while they were escaping.

After war, he stayed in Manisa and planting trees was sacred duty for him.

He planted thousands of trees.

He decided to grow his beard and hair. Due to his view, folks would call him as ‘Hacı’

After‘Tarzan’ movie had been shown in Manisa,1934, Ahmed Bedevi was named as Tarzan.

People have liked him.

There were confluences to touch him while he walking in the street.

He died in May 31, 1963. Commemoration

for him everyyear.

His name , Tarzan, has been used by folk of Manisa at everywhere.
