Where is the National Park?

It is located in the east of Taiwan. It lies across 3 administrative areas, Hualien

County, Taichung County, and Nantou County.

Facts

The name, Taroko, means “magnificent and beautiful”.

Taroko National Park was established on November 28, 1986.

It covers more than 92,000 hectares in the northern section of Central Mountain Range.

Landform High mountains and sheer marble gorges. Many of its peaks are above 3000m high,

with many natural wonders. Taroko Gorge Liwu River, a great scultptor. Waterfalls

Gold Rush?

Since the 17th century, people came here in search of gold.

The trend ends because of high cost, pollution, became part of the national park.

Fauna

Most parts of Taroko National Park is undisturbed wilderness, so its wildlife is diverse.

Flora

The elevation ranges from sea level (the mouth of Liwu River) up to 3742m (Mt. Nanhu) and includes different climate zones.

Activities – Enjoy the Beauty of Taroko Hike on the Lushui Trail, which starts near

the 172 kilometer marker on the Central Cross-Island Highway.  The trail is only 2km long and can be comfortably completed in 45 minutes. The trail has many of the attractions of longer trails through the gorge, including a small bridge, waterfall, and views of the grooved limestone rising from the rive.

Just simply sit under the trees and relax!
