Hope For The Homeless

IntroductionThis is a photo essay that is geared to highlight three specific persons who are homeless in the downtown Kingston are. It will focus on the facial expressions of individuals before and after they know who I am and felt comfortable. They are persons of interest who I often give food items and pass by to let them know that I still remember them. Their names will not be stated instead they will be given a title name. These persons are not insane and are of no harm, however on a regular basis they are abused by passer-by when they ask for money or food. They are various reason as to why persons are homeless and we will only know if we take the time the time out to be generous. It will also feature how they store their items. I chose this beat because I was interested in how they live while being homeless. They are heroes in their own way and I am glad that I got the chance to be the hope for them.

“Market Rasta”

In the Coronation Market on October 5, 2016, “Market Rasta” was caught on camera sitting in a dilapidated area where he calls his ‘home’.

“Mek me smile!”, In the Coronation Market on October 5, 2016, “Market Rasta” displayed a bright smile after he found out why I wanted to take a picture with him even though his area of living is unclean.

“Swag Boss”

“Swag boss” relaxing at his daily location on King Street on November 30, 2016 before he knew what my mission what about.

On November 30,2016, “Swag Boss” smiled after being told he is handsome on King Street in Downtown Kingston.

“Bow Dog”

On December 5, 2016, “Bow Dog” was captured wiping his face while smoking marijuana at the North Street Primary School gate after walking in the sun for hours.

“Cheeeese!” “Bow Dog” shouted when I told him to smile for the camera on December 5, 2016 at the gate of the North Street Primary School where he laid until night comes to relocate.

A close friend of “Bow Dog” was intrigued to take a photograph infront of North Street Primary School On December 5, 2016. “Him a di general” are words of the vendors at the school. He also purchase goods from the nearby wholesales and receive money or food as a reward.
