D I R C K S I S D R A F T E D B Y T H E A R I Z O N A C A R D I N A L S !With a fantastic start to the 2014 NFL season, the Arizona Cardinals have surprised everyone but themselves. With outstanding leadership from Head Coach Bruce Arians, their results have been fully expected. Why? Let’s take a look back at one of football’s true heroes and his performance 45 years ago. Before the 1969 Super Bowl, Joe Namath proudly proclaimed prior to the game against the vaunted Baltimore Colts, “We’re going to win on Sunday. I guarantee it.” How could he be so bold? He went on to say, "The Colts were in a Catch-22 situation. They had this defense that had killed the whole NFL that season. Why should they change for one game against a 19-point underdog? So I knew they were going to stick with the same fronts, the same coverages, the same blitzes. It was like having all the questions for an exam two weeks before you actually take it. By the time we played, I knew those guys inside-out." Quite simply, Namath prepared. He prepared for the biggest game of his life and knew exactly what needed to be done to win Super Bowl III.
In moving and logistics, preparation is one of the leading characteristics that points to our success. Like Namath, we too prepare for all of our jobs and
projects. Notably, we’ve been moving the Arizona State University Sun Devils Football team’s equipment for every single one of their road games since 1990. Ok, we admit it: we didn’t move the team’s equipment to the Hawaii Bowl in 2006. And since 1998, we’ve moved the Arizona Diamondbacks equipment to and from Chase Field and Sky Harbor Airport for each and every one of their road trips. What does this all mean? We were more than prepared to answer the Arizona Cardinals when they made the call. This year, we’ve been hired to move the equipment necessary for a successful training camp and to assist with some of the road games for this season. In July, we moved over 75,000 pounds of weight and athletic training equipment to University of Phoenix Stadium to help the team prepare for the 2014 season.
Thus far, the team has looked outstanding despite player injuries on the defensive side of the ball and two of their wins have come with a backup quarterback. How? Simply, the team prepared and was prepared by having depth on their roster. And perhaps, maybe, just a little, a better than prepared moving company has them in position to visit Super Bowl XLIX. That will be a very easy move for us. After
all, the game is being played at U n i v e r s i t y o f Phoenix Stadium, r i g h t h e r e i n Glendale, Arizona.

GET TO KNOW … JEFF CHRETIENIt’s hard to describe everything Jeff Chretien has done for Dircks in the years he has been with us because he has had his hand in many aspects of our business, and his current duties include the
estimating and supervision of major commercial relocation and logistics projects. Jeff is a native of Buffalo, NY, starting there with Mayflower in 1976. He moved to Salt Lake City in 1978 (still with Mayflower) and he relocated to Phoenix in 2007.
J e f f ’s h o b b i e s i n c l u d e motorcycling, target shooting and building cabinetry and displays for his other hobby,
collecting Department 56 houses and trains. As Jeff will tell you, he and his wife have been adopted by Harley, their seven year old Black Lab. And when they are feeling parental, they “rent” their nephews for some quality time.
Jeff’s favorite places to take the bike are anywhere in the northern portions of Arizona where he can enjoy cooler air and green trees. Favorite dining spots include, The Keg for steaks, Logan's for ribs, Matta's for Mexican, Firehouse for subs and Sonic for hotdogs. “They all get second billing to Coldstone for breakfast,” says Jeff.
Some of the more fun projects he has worked on include managing the prototype logistics for attaching the space shuttle to the transport 747, relocating a 2-6-2 steam locomotive, the relocation of the entire Buffalo Evening News press location, a 135,000 volume library move for ASU, the collections move for ASU Life Sciences, the medical testing and clean room equipment move for LabCorp, crating, transporting and delivering a 22' replica of the "Friendship 7" rocket to Senator John Glenn and transporting an ailing pachyderm to the vet for the Ringling Brothers Circus!
QUOTES TO GOTechnology is all around us and sometimes, taken for granted. At Dircks, we’ve embraced the opportunity to automate our functions for the good of the planet but also to facilitate better service for our customers. If you’ve moved with us, you know that our Residential Move Coordinators come with tablets in tow so that they can provide Quotes to Go. Simply, this estimating system assures the accuracy of an estimate and quote. The coordinator moves about your home and takes inventory of all items that are needed to move along with other needed details to then furnish the customer with a comprehensive quote. On site, the Coordinator will send you an e-mail with said quote. No waiting!

NEWSWORTHY!
We encourage everyone to visit the new Mayflower.com. A very intuitive and
informative site for anyone needing any
type of moving services. As we poked
around a bit, we noticed that one of our own moves was featured and on display there.
Their Follow My Move page features the
Nicholson family, who we relocated from Muncie, Indiana to Tempe, Arizona. Here’s a
screen shot of their feature. Take a closer
look by visiting www.Mayflower.com.
NEW MAYFLOWER WEBSITE!!
WE’RE NUTS ABOUT LOGISTICSAs many of you know, we’re not just a residential mover. We have a bustling logistics business that’s going to see some new activity soon. Like we do for cookies, the Girl Scout Nuts campaign is coming to town and we’re handling distribution and deliveries all around metro Phoenix.
The new Girl Scouts’ Fall Product Program is a fun and easy way for Girl Scouts to learn meaningful goal-setting, teamwork and business skills that will last a lifetime. As a precursor to the big cookie program in January, through the Fall Sale, girls practice their skills while earning money for their troop by selling delicious treats, magazines and keepsakes. It’s a great opportunity for girls to experience the payoff of hard work and determination, further instilling the importance of leadership and good business sense.
So when you see Girl Scouts out there this Fall, be sure to support them like we at Dircks do and buy some nuts!
SOME SIGNIFICANT MOVESEvery Dircks move is important and sometimes, some stand out more the others. Here’s a brief look at some of the moves we’ve executed over the last quarter.
Arizona State University Head Baseball Coach Tracy Smith. Moved from Indiana University to Tempe, Arizona.
Anthony Tolliver, Phoenix Suns. Former Charlotte Bobcat, recent move to Phoenix.
Sean Duggan, Chief of Police, City of Chandler, Arizona. In-state move.
ALTERNATIVE MODE USER PROGRAMThe Alternative Mode User Program (AMU) is a part of the Maricopa County Trip Reduction campaign in which Dircks participates. Here at the offices, D i r c k s e m p l o y e e s w h o participate in AMU get VIP parking, and we do weekly drawings for gift cards that are awarded to winning employees who do their share to limit the number of vehicles on the road by carpooling or using other alternative methods of getting to work.
And don’t forget that October is Ride Share Month across the country! Make sure you visit your city’s metro website for more information on how you can participate! GLOWING REVIEWWe don’t normally share too many customer review here in The Insider, but we did want to share an excerpt from a recent review from someone who moves a lot and knows the ins and outs of the business:We have moved with professionals eight times over the last 20 years. This last move we were asked to make arrangements ourselves, which was a "rst. I only called 2 big name companies Allied & United. After reading the reviews on their local companies, which were NOT impressive, we decided to look up reviews for local packing companies & stumbled upon Dircks who works with May#ower. I was impressed right away with our estimator Jacob. He was timely, professional, caring and personable. I hit lotto though with our packers. They are a senior team at Dircks, Flora & Betty. They were awesome right away. These ladies are hands down by far the BEST packers I have EVER had…Dirck’s needs to pay these ladies way more, loved, loved, loved them. I have been a service oriented manager for a company that demands great service, these ladies were fantastic! I told them we had lost a set of car keys years ago & a garage door opener & they found both items. I can not say enough about them … Flora & Betty are the best!Coach Tracy Smith with ASU Athletic
