this book is part one of a trilogy of books and features english landscapes taken from south devon to north east somerset along the fosse way, an old roman road that runs from lincoln to exeter. it celebrates the english roadside, the particular geometry, the flotsam and jetsum and the culture of indifference that surrounds this swathe of tarmac and concrete that defines england.
