DESCRIPTION

In June 2009 we collaborated with the Centre for Food Policy in the School of Community and Health Sciences at City University to develop an online micro-module on sustainable development. The aim of the module was to introduce the subject of sustainability to all University students and staff members. We approached this design task by carrying out various user research activities, which led to a number of conceptual prototypes before the final design was chosen and implemented. Discussions with the stakeholders led us to focus on the undergraduate students as our main target audience early on in the process. This presentation lists the sustainability related interactive applications we came across during the research stage of the project.

In June 2009 we collaborated with the Centre for Food Policy in the School of

Community and Health Sciences at City University to develop an online micro-module

on sustainable development.

The aim of the module was to introduce the subject of sustainability to all University

students and staff members. We approached this design task by carrying out various

user research activities, which led to a number of conceptual prototypes before the

final design was chosen and implemented. Discussions with the stakeholders led us to

focus on the undergraduate students as our main target audience early on in the process.

This presentation lists the sustainability related interactive applications we came across

during the research stage of the project.

How fun can sustainability be? ElectroCity brings decisions about green

living into a simulator webgame that, while slow at first, teaches realistic

lessons while you have fun in the city you get to run.

Eco-tastic is a brand new board game designed to encourage everyone to live more sustainably.

With Eco-tastic you will learn how to reduce your environmental footprint, so that we can ensure

the future of our planet. The game is designed for ages 8 years plus, and requires players to act,

draw or answer questions to progress through the game.
