How do peers change?Adolescence is a time of experimentation as kids

figure out who they are and where they fit in.

• Friends are made and lost• High levels of conflict• Peer Pressure• Bullying

What can I expect as a parent?

During adolescence, it is normal for kids to pull away from parents as they try to figure out who they are and strive for independence.

Kids will push boundaries, break rules, try out being sarcastic or disrespectful, and just generally try your patience.

What can I do?The most important things you can do are:

• Set Clear Expectations and enforce them with consistent consequences.

• Keep the Lines of Communication OPEN

• Encourage your child to participate in extra-curricular activities.
