As of May 16th, 2014 this is the last day of high
school for out 2014 seniors. This years class has
38 seniors some that have been here since Kin-
dergarten or even preschool, some that made
the journey up the hill from CTK to the high
school in 7th grade, and some that have came
here throughout the years.
Senior Abigail Irsfeld was asked how her time
was here as a Tiger and answered, “It was great
and went by really fast!” Fellow classmate Ben-
ton Johnson says, “Relax and have a good
time!”
Matthew Schettler who played Football and ran
Track and was in many clubs his senior year
says, “Don’t let your senior year go to waste.”
Matthew has been a very good role model for
the underclassmen.

The Browerville Lions Club had asked the school if the athletes would like to help clean ditch-
es, the school said yes and the athletes helped clean ditches on April 30th, 2014. The Athletes
came in rain boots, rain coats, hats, gloves to the Community Center ready to load a bus and
travel to the Lion’s Club ditch ready to walk about two miles to pick up trash in the ditch. The
Lions Club has done quite a bit for our school, from the new chairs for the gym to donating
money for the school and even to the schools athletic programs. So, this was a way for the
athletes to come back and show how much the Lions Club means to the school and to our
athletic departments.

Spring Athlete Ditch Clean-up
Thank You
Lions Club!
Abigail is the
Browerville’s Lion’s
Student of the Month
for April. She is very
well deserving of the
award and was nomi-
nated by more than one
staff member. She is
always on the go with
many activities and
projects to keep up with. She was just introduced
into the National Honor Society. Abigail is active in
band, choir, FFA, and yearbook. As an athlete she
competes in track and volleyball. Abigail always has
a smile on her face and is liked by peers and staff..
In her education she yearns to be the best and puts in
the extra time to get the most from it. She is a great
representative for this award and truly demonstrates
“Tiger pride”. Abigail’s advice for younger students
so that they can be a student of the month is to make
sure to work hard, get homework done, and get good
grades. Abigail Prepared by working hard, keeping
her grades up and being involved in a lot of school
activities. Abigail wants to go to St. Cloud Tech to
become a Dental Hygienist, she wants to find a good
job. Abigail Likes Browerville because it’s in a
small community, she gets to be involved in as
many school activities as she wants, and the
Teacher’s really helped her through-out her
years at Browerville.

Adrienne Grady is
Browerville’s Lion’s Stu-
dent of the Month for May.
Adrienne is a senior who is
quietly successful for the
work she has done through-
out her years in Browerville
High-School, and is very
well deserving of this
award. Adrienne has volun-
teered her time and educa-
tion to cross aging the special needs and kindergarten class, and plans
to attend college for Addiction Psychology. Her class work is always
of high quality, more often than asked she goes above and beyond!
She is a sweet, friendly person, she gets along with everyone. She is
always participating in classroom discussions, she's not afraid to voice
her opinion on things, even if it goes against the flow. Adrienne’s
advice for underclassmen trying to earn the award is to try the best
you can, work hard,, turn your homework in on time and attendance is
always important! In a quiet way Adrienne displays what it truly
means to be a “Browerville Tiger”. Being Student of the Month is a
great thing to have on your records, colleges look for great, hard
working students. Adrienne is definitely a role model for underclass-
men because of her hard work and dedication to school and school
work!

Friday was the first annual Hun-
ger Games. A non-violent ver-
sion of course. For the Hunger
Games two students from eve-
ry grade were drawn out of a
box. Their names were put in
there by their fellow students
and teachers paying two dol-
lars to get their name in there.
In order to get out of doing it
you would have to pay five dol-
lars. There were twelve people
Spring Fling was a total suc-
cess. It seemed as though eve-
ryone came together to bring
the school into one colorful
group of students and even
teachers!
Monday was Spring Fever
dress up day. Everyone
dressed up in Spring clothes to
welcome Spring to BHS. Tues-
day was America Day. Every-
one dressed patriotic for our
country. Wednesday was
“MORP” day. BHS students
dressed up in old fashioned
dress up/ prom dresses and
the guys dressed up in old
fashioned suits. Unfortunately
not too many people had dress
up clothes for this day, but it
was still fun! Thursday was
Throw Back Thursday! 50’s,
60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, cavemen,
babies, anything from the past
was everyone’s apparel. Friday
was class color day. This year,
every class had T-shirts made
for them. Most of them had
clever sayings on them for the
class.
Activities for Spring Fling:

In the beginning of 2013-2014 approximately
twenty students joined BPA, but two students of the stood out,
Andy Brichacek and Grace Couchey, they have made their way
through BPA Regions, State, and Nationals. Andy and Grace were
chaperoned by Dan Custer on their trip to Indianapolis. Mr. Custer
said “The overall competition went great, there were 5,000 students
competing and Grace and Andy really did great! He says, “The trav-
eling part was easy because everything was so organized, Andy and
Grace had some tough competition, but I think it’ll be easier next
year because this time they’ll know what to expect, I was so happy
and lucky to be a part of BPA this year I personally learned a lot
myself and look forward to next year!”
Andy and Grace both say “We would love to go back next
year! It was a great learning experience and a great thing to be a
part of! While we were there we got to do some other stuff other
than BPA we got to see a war memorial in downtown Indianapolis,
we took a paddle boat ride down the canal and we visited Kings Is-
land Amusement park! Andy stated “To me BPA is a good group to
be a part of; it has guided me to a good valuable life experience and
showed me what real business professionals are.”
Grace says her first year wasn’t what she thought it would
be, “ I thought when I joined BPA it was going to be strictly just
about business, but after a year I learned that
it’s about much more and opens you up to a lot
of new opportunities, you get to enjoy fun ac-
tivities, meet new people and make great new
friendships, explore many different careers,
and helps prepare you for college!” And who
knows, you might and up going to nationals
like Andy and Grace.

PROM 2014 Drops of Jupiter: Last stop of the 2013-14 School Year
As the school year quickly comes to an end, the 2014 Junior and Senior
Prom “Drops of Jupiter” marks one of the last major events of the school year,
and was a fun and exciting event for the students who attended.
Browerville Prom 2014 “Drops of Jupiter” was on April 26 and was a fun
day for those who attended. The day started off for many by getting their hair
done, getting all dressed up, taking pictures, then heading by limo, car, and even party
bus out to their favorite restaurants. Some of the restaurant choices made by students
this year were Granite City and Grizzly’s, both great dining choices for prom. After
finishing their dining experience, the students then headed back to Browerville where
they had pictures taken professionally by Tolifson Phohtography.
At 7:30, prom goers got the chance to present and show off their dresses and
tuxedos to the crowd at Grand March. After completing their rounds at Grand March,
the dance began. This is one of my favorite parts of prom, being able to dance to our
favorite songs. After almost three hours of dancing, it was time to get ready for Post
Prom, which is put on by the Junior and Senior parents.
When arriving at Post Prom at midnight, hunger is one of the main concerns.
This year some of the food choices were wings, pizza, egg rolls, taco boats, fruit, and
a dessert bar. After eating it was time to take part in all the Post Prom festivities.
Poker, Amazing Race, and volleyball were just a few of the gaming options at Post
Prom. Another awesome event was the hypnotist, where a selected group of students,
I being one of them, were hypnotized.
After hours of dancing and playing, it was time to win some prizes. Some of
the prizes included were TVs, gift cards, fridges, microwaves, and much more. Prom
2014 was definitely a success, and will be one of the great memories of high school,
and will continue to be a fun experience for all.

“The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize out-
standing high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have
demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteris-
tics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.”
On March 26th the National Honor Society Chapter in Browerville honored its incoming members as well
as its veteran members. The members were served a banquet to honor their excellence. Through volun-
teering, academic success, and leadership these students have become pillars in the community. This
night was all about honoring them for the work they have done, and will continue to do.
The Browerville National Honor Society Chapter has not only completed volunteer work individually
outside of school, but has also completed many team effort volunteer projects this school year. In October
they held a blood drive at school to raise money and collect blood to help others in need. During the
Christmas Season, the NHS group raised money for Toys for Tots, providing gifts for children in need. In
the second semester the group held a can tower building contest, adding a fun and exciting way to collect
food for the area food shelf. Next the group held a “Hunger Games” style contest raising money for the
BHS Dollars for Scholars. The group also spent time on Earth Day cleaning the school grounds.
As the school year comes to an end, the NHS torch will now be passed on to the Junior Members. Thanks
to senior members Benton Johnson, Trent Johnson, Emily Lisson, Abigail Irsfeld, Jake Iten, Cody Hans-
meyer, Jackson Polak, and Emily Busch for all the work they c9ompleted here at BHS. Junior members
that will be continuing their work next year are Kate Kellen, MaKenna Hegseth, Dominique Ludwig,
Katelyn Middendorf, and Catherine Aksamit. These students will continue to work hard wherever they
may go to provide service and help to those in need.
Mr. Wagner our Spanish Teacher, Head Wrestling
coach, Track Coach, and a helper with football here
at BHS is leaving for personal reasons.
He was asked what he enjoyed here about the staff
and answered, “The staff is fun and enjoyable to be
around, they are also very easy to get along with
and I have made so many good relationships with
them.”He also says that the students here are for
the most part working and ready and willing to ex-
periment new things in the classroom.
He stated that the hardest part is that he will be
leaving behind the wrestling program. “I believe in
these guys so much. They have worked so hard and
put in so much time, they knew what I wanted from
them each and every practice and match.”
He believes that he has been able to bring more
athletes to the weight room, and has noticed that
the athletes here are willing to put in extra time
before and after practices as well as before and
after the season to get better and be the best they
can be. He says, “That’s what I like about any ath-
lete.”
Mr. Wagner has the opportunity to be the head
football coach and to coach track and also he will
be the Spanish teacher at Pequot Lakes. This is his
third year teaching and has been teaching in
Browerville for two years. He knew that this was
going to be a very hard decision and knew it
was going to come.
He wants to leave back and wants it to continue
is that the athletes and students know that more
is always required and that you have to be will-
ing to put in more time and effort, into school
and sports to become the best you can be! He
loves to coach as well as teach and has enjoyed
his time as a Browerville Tiger very much. He
believes him leaving is kind of “bitter-sweet”,
as he stated.

On the first and second of
May, the tradition continued for the K-
6th grade having their grandparents,
and parents visiting for the day to lis-
ten to the kids sing.
The theme for this years pro-
gram was, “United We Sing”. The pro-
gram opened up with the K-6th grade
singing the national anthem. Almost
all of the songs that the kids sang were
patriotic.
Mrs. Petermeier, the K-6th
grade music teacher, has been putting
on these programs for all of the 22
yeas that she has been here. Every
year the turn out for the program is
great and there is usually a full gym.
This years turn-out for the parents and
grandparents day programs, had a
very full gym.
For the finale of the program,
all the K-6th grade sang a song that
had to do with the patriotic theme.
After the grandparents program was
done, the kids and their grandparents
went to eat lunch and visit for a little
while, and when they are done eating
they got to go home with their grand-
parents.
During the program, they
honored everyone who has and who
are currently serving for our country.

WARRIOR’S READY!!!!!
The Army National Guard what is it YOU asked? Well it turns out it is a “ready force to serve
and protect”, they are made up of community members also know as weekend warriors and
known to be the only branch that works for the state only. There is a lot of benefits that go
with the National Guard for example, the Guard will pay for your college up to the University
of Minnesota Standards. You can also use your whole life to make a full career out of the Ar-
my, but not everyone can join it is very unfortunate that some cant join but the country is very
proud to have those brave to serve and protect the great country. According to SSG Housey
“its an opportunity to learn a trade in the military. You can learn personal discipline and pro-
fessional but you can use what you have learned in the National Guard to apply to the civilian
work force”. Even tho there is so many good qualities every person could say for the National
Guard there are also negative sides that people say about them. SSG Housey was kind enough
to shed some light on some of the misconceptions “ labeled as a less adequate force then
most’ “not as well trained or disciplined as most of the branches”. But they have a larger bene-
fit as they bring more to the table as a force then the regular army would.

This year the track team has done
extremely well at the very few meets they
have attended. Only going to 5 different
meets and having a bunch being cancelled
or postponed has hit the team really hard!
With some teams already having 6 or 7
meets in they have a lot more going for
them. But our little team has come a long
way and are ready to keep on rolling. This
team reminds me a lot of “David and Goli-
ath” with us being David and the other
teams being Goliath! Our Team is very
young and eager to get out and run at every meet
we can.
Billy Dreher one of the senior leaders
has a lot of hopes this year of having kids advance
to and maybe even state. The best feature Billy
sees about our team is no matter what we doing
from running around the square in school, to
throwing shot-put in the gym that we all try 110%
all the time. “We hope to make conference
champs this year” Billy says. With the year almost
over Billy is looking towards helping and cheering
people on towards the section championship meet
in Moorehead on Tuesday May 29th. Billy also said
he is hoping to make it to sections maybe even to
state and try his hardest to PR (Personal
Record/Personal Best), and good luck to the other
athletes on our team !
Cody Hansmeyer one of our other Senior
leaders has his eyes set on the prize of making it
to state in either the 4X100 or in the Triple Jump.
Cody has been in track for only 3 years but has
loved it from the start. “With it being a competitive
sport but yet fun its grown on me a bunch, you can
be serious with running and jumping then being
able to talk to your friends and make new friends
in the process makes it fun on its own. ” Cody
says. “Ever since I’ve started me and a bunch of
seniors (Matthew Schettler, Jackson Polak, and
Billy Dreher) have had contests at the meets
on who can score the mosts point or get the
better placing in a race, it’s been like this
since Elementary Track and Field Day!” Co-
dy added. Cody hopes to advance to the
section meet and the state meet if he quali-
fies, then help motivate his friends to the
state meet as well!
From the senior track members we
would love to thank the coaches, teachers,
custodians, and everyone else for the sup-
port and flexibility with our schedules!
Good Luck to all tigers sports as Playoffs
approach. Good Luck and Have Fun!

NAME GRADE Due to the weather
there has been many post-
poned and cancelled games.
The girls are very eager to
play more games and are
sick of the crappy Minnesota
weather. They have battled
through rough weather and
have started out the season
on a very good note.
The Tiger girls have
played some very tough
teams including, Kimball,
Royalton and Maple Lake.
The girls first game was
against Maple Lake and it
showed coach Meissner
what they needed to work on
as the ending score was the
Tigers 2 and Maple Lake 7.
The team made some adjust-
ments and came into the
next games hitting a lot bet-
ter and coming out with the
Wins. The Royalton game
was a mentally fought hard
game with it raining for part
of it and being below 30 de-
grees. The girls pulled out a
Win with a 10-8 victory over
Royalton! A few more games
were played and the girls
got a few more wins and an-
other tough game came up
against Kimball. The Royal-
raining for part of it and being
below 30 degrees. The girls
pulled out a Win with a 10-8
victory over Royalton! A few
more games were played and
the girls got a few more wins
and another tough game came
up against Kimball. It was
close the whole game until the
6th inning the tiger’s pitchers
struggled and Kimball scored
nine runs that inning. They lost
that game with an ending
score of 18-12. The girls sit at
a record of 12-2 for right now.
The Tiger’s seniors are
Emily Lisson, Haley Pi-
otrowski, and Andi Buhl. The
girls all agreed that the season
is going very well for what
they have been able to play.
They wish they could play
more games and have more
practices on their own field.
“Our team is on the right
track, as we are getting better
every day.” said Andi Buhl.
The team has high
hopes for the playoffs and are
having a very fun season so
far! Good Luck to the Tiger
Girls on the rest of their sea-
son!

Mr. Vedbraaten is wrapping up his
first year as the Browerville Super-
intendent with the school year com-
ing to an end. He has a bachelors
degree at UND which took him four
years. Then his masters and princi-
ple license at University of Minne-
sota Mankato.
He said that he had a great first year
at Browerville and is excited to see
what next year will bring him. The
hardest thing about changing
schools was learning how each
school system ran and also his dis-
tance from his family. He is about
197 miles from his family which
would be about a three hour drive to
visit.
He is married and has 4
daughters. Three of them
plan on coming to
Browerville next year
while the oldest one gradu-
