"Major Lessons from the Minor Prophets" is our new sermon series that we begin today. Through the end of the year, we will dive into these often little-known books of the Bible and discover some of the lessons the Lord has waiting for us there. May we have the courage to take these lessons to heart in our own lives.

MJA Van Driver: We are in urgent need of a van driver for the 2020-21 school year. The job consists of picking up about 10 kids each morning at two locations and taking them back in the afternoon. The driver needs to be an Adventist member with great skills in dealing with kids, willing to participate in the background screening done through the Michigan Conference, and willing to get a chauffeur's license for which the school will pay. They do NOT have to be a member at Metro. Please contact Jill Simon (810.623.2545-cell) ASAP if you know someone who would like to make some extra money while serving our school. Thank you!

Fundraising Garage Sale: On Aug 20 and 21 Martina van der Velde will host a Garage Sale at her home to fundraise for Home & School of Metro School. Please donate toys, kitchen stuff, sport articles, and whatever you think can sell (please NO adult clothing and NO old tvs). Bring donations on Monday, Aug 17 to 9701 N Canton Center Rd, Plymouth 48170. We also would appreciate help! We sort on Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug 18 and 19) and sell on Thursday and Friday (Aug 20 and 21). Call if you have questions: 734-890-0262. Your Home & School team Martina, Lea, and Gladys.

Metro Midweek - "Last Day Events". The discussion is based on the Bible and the book that contains Ellen White's compiled comments on the subject. Please plan to join in on this exciting discussion each Wednesday at 7 p.m. via Zoom or watch the live stream.

Welcome the Sabbath Call Friday, August 21 to 8 p.m. Please plan to join in by dialing 605-313-5375. You will also need to key in the access code: 463992#.

The Michigan Conference Trust Services department is available to assist you with getting legal documents in place. If you need a Will, and/or Power of Attorney documents, we will connect you with an attorney who will prepare the necessary documents. This service is at no cost to you. For more information call or email Pastor Gene Hall at 517-316-1521 or ghall@misda.org.

Face Coverings: Please remember that we are still asking that everyone please wear a face covering when you are up moving around. However, once in your seat for the service, you can remove your covering. Those who want to wear them the entire time are also welcome and encouraged to do so. As an additional precaution, we would kindly ask that you wear your mask while singing. .

Today’s Offering Appeal and Focus…

Local Church Budget

Is it really too much? After her baptism, Luzia made a plan to return to her offering as a percentage of her income. She did not want to “forget” to be grateful to God. While living in Brazil, Luzia got a well-paying job and writing checks for the tithes and offerings became painful. She always understood that tithes don’t belong to us and we return them to God, but she wasn’t so sure about offerings anymore. Luzia prayed and finally understood that offerings are a way to show God our gratitude for the blessings received. Looking back, she can see that after returning tithe and giving offerings she always had enough to pay her bills, buy all she needed, and even make trips around the world. She says the best thing happened when she and her husband moved to the United States. They sold their condo in Brazil and with that money bought a house for cash in the States. Daily she thanks God for this blessing and miracle, because, by her calculations, it should never have been possible. God doesn’t need our money. He only wants us to learn to trust Him and His plans for our life. Luzia encourages us to try and see God’s generosity!
