SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNINGSOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING
2020 sees the introduction of the YouYou CanCan DoDo ItItsocial-emotional learning program from K-6 here at Beverly HillsNorth Public School.
We are all very excited to be part of this program that willsupport students to develop positive attitudes that will servethem well throughout their lives.
The lessons in the NEW Program Achieve and their contentderive from a comprehensive framework that incorporates thelatest research into the social and emotional characteristics ofstudents and how they influence their positive and negativeoutcomes (e.g., achievement, relationships, wellbeing).
During Term 1, students in Year 1 to 6 will learn about workconfidence, persistence, goal setting, time management andteam-work. Students in Kindergarten will have lessons thatintroduce these concepts in preparation for the learning in lateryears.
The diagram below gives an overview of the positive charactertraits that are taught within the program alongside the ‘negative’habits which may be visible. The program is grade-based andwill run each term for the entire year.
We hope to bring you updates through the newsletter of theweekly lessons so that you can continue the conversation athome!
