The Un’S in our pasts leave us stuck.

Unfaithful, unworthy, unrighteous, unmerciful, unreachable, unwilling,

undesirable, unwise, undone, unbroken…

Ways we try to escape our pasts.

Delayed Obedience is Immediate Disobedience

All it takes to get stuck is three things -

A Past

A Pain

A People

Moses had a past he would have liked to forget.

Acts 7:23 “When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his own

people, the Israelites.

Acts 7:24He saw one of them being

mistreated by an Egyptian, so he went to his defense and avenged

him by killing the Egyptian.

Moses had the pain of that past.

Acts 7:25Moses thought that his own

people would realize that God was using him to rescue them,

but they did not.

Moses had people who reminded him of his past.

Acts 7:28Are you thinking of killing me as

you killed the Egyptian yesterday?

When Moses heard this, he fled to Midian, where he settled as a

foreigner and had two sons.

Procrastination is assassination of our future.

Moses is stuck!

What is your past, your pain, and who are the people that

remind you that you are stuck!

Acts 7:30After forty years had passed

God’s revelation = our responsibility.

The Journey from Victim to Victory.

Moses had a stake in staying a victim.

Exodus 3:10-13So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” cont.

11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”12 And God said, “I will be with you.

Not Who your are, but who He is.

Exodus 4:1-2But Moses said, “They won’t believe me! They won’t do what I tell them to…2 “What do you have there in your hand?” the Lord asked him.

Not what you have, but what He is giving.

Exodus 4:10But Moses replied to the LORD, “Please, Lord, I have never been

eloquent—either in the past or recently or since You have been

speaking to Your servant[c]—because I am slow and hesitant in

speech.”

Exodus 4:19Now in Midian the LORD told

Moses, “Return to Egypt, for all the men who wanted to kill you

are dead.”

Let God take care of your critics.
