• What is built• Buildings that are created or

produced

Construction sites involve the building of offices and homes.

Destruction (n.)

• The act of taking down or destroying something that was built.

A flood can cause destruction to a town.

Infrastructure (n.)

• The parts on which the rest of the city was built

• Includes the roads, communication, transportation and schools

The infrastructure of a city includes the roads.

Instruct (v.)

• To build knowledge

The teachers at Gladstone Elementary are here to instruct, so the students will build their knowledge.

Instructor (n.)

• A person who helps you build knowledge

Swimming instructors help children learn to swim.

Misconstrue(v.)

• To misunderstand• To interpret the wrong way

She misconstrued my comments. She did not understand what I was trying to say. .

Obstruction (n.)

• Something that blocks the way of things being built

• Something in the way

The obstruction in the road prevented the cars from getting through.

Reconstruct(v.)

• To build again

After the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the residents had to reconstruct their homes.

Substructure(n.)

• The base, support, or foundation of a building

Some homes have basements which are considered a substructure to the house.

Superstructure (n.)

• Something that is built on top of something else

• The part that was built on top of the foundation or base

A superstructure is built on top of a building.
