Data is only useful in context with other data.

Complexity = Opportunity

“Getting information off the internet is like taking a drink from the fire hydrant.”- Mitchell Kapor

Information is a shared resource.

Change is constant, inevitable, and necessary.

Change affects our world,

Perception guides how we learn.

Information Pareidolia

Users have become their own operators.

Users focus more on the journey, and less on the

destination.

Information architecture is a nascent skill.

Personal information frameworks reflect

individual belief systems.

Trust is an essential component.

Transparency helps to build trust.

Security erodes trust.

Librarians are not police.

Predictability is comforting.

Serendipity is a key element of self-discovery.

Users should be continually introduced to

the sublime.

Simplicity is the key to discovery.

Users must be able to get there from here.

Users often rely on group discovery.

Speed is critical.

Retrieval should be as easy as storage.

All these qualities need to be folded into a sustainable business model.
