The Simon Family Tower at IU Health is a new 10-story, 675,000 square-foot addition to Riley Hospital for Children and was the first project in Indiana to use an Integrated Project Delivery approach. Because of the IPD nature of the project, there were more than eight design firms, contractors and builders involved in the design of the facility. Seeking an innovative way to leverage collaboration and the collective strength of the team, a plan was implemented to work across a single building information model. This session details how BIM’s ability to share live facility data was used to bring all of the designers, contractors and vendors together to organize the execution of the hospital’s design.The presentation will go in-depth into the project team’s planning to create a process and environment that allowed multiple organizations to work together on the same model. The presenters will also share how they addressed challenges and unforeseen circumstances with technology and the working arrangement.
