Varsity Boys’ SoccerCoaches Rusnak, McNea and Culham would like to congratulate all members of the Varsity Boys' Soccer team on their tenacity

and hard work yesterday at our first 2 games of the regular season. The team worked well together and hustled hard right

to the last whistle. Gavin Proud scored a beautiful goal on a free kick from just outside of the 18 yard box and we had many other

chances. Unfortunately we were matched up against two very strong AAA schools and after 180 minutes of play were not able to come out on top. Still 6 games to go...lots of season left! As

always you represented SCI with class.

Have a great weekend boys!

Great news, SCI!!

As part of our fundraising effort for the Terry Fox Event, Frankie from Frankie’s Barber Shop here in Stayner has offered to come to SCI on Monday to cut your hair for only $10. The really great news is that Frankie will donate all the money raised towards our fundraising drive. To reserve a spot on Monday, submit your money to the main office as soon as possible.

Library LiveThe first Library Live of the year is coming. If you can sing, play an instrument, tell a good joke, perform a magic trick, or any other form of entertainment, then this is the place for you to be next Friday after the Terry Fox walk.

Get your act together!

Attention Spartans…

As the Fall sports season begins, we are looking for students to help out at our home

games to assist with scorekeeping for volleyball and basketball games. In addition to receiving volunteer hours for your time,

you will also earn athletic credit points which go towards earning medals and trophies at the year end athletic assembly. Please see Mr. French or Ms. Baldry for more details.

Are you a reader? An organizer? A book buyer? Then Library Group is the group for

you. We will be meeting on Tuesdays at lunch in the library. We especially welcome our

grade 9s. Drop by the library at 11:10 am on Tuesday and see what Library Group is all

about. Hope to see you there.

On September 30th, the students at SCI will join up with students from Byng and Clearview Meadows to take part in a Terry Fox Event in support of cancer research. Our goal is to raise $5000, and to meet this target, we are asking every student to raise at least $15. Students in the Rec and Fitness Leadership class will be making visits to period two classes tomorrow with more details about the event. Let’s do our part as Spartans to help make cancer a thing of the past.

• This is a reminder that the Ontario Universities' Fair (OUF) is coming up at the end of September. Don't let your students miss it!

• The OUF is the only event where you can see all 21 Ontario universities in one place. It's a once-a-year, free event where attendees can talk directly with senior university faculty and representatives.

• The OUF takes place September 23-25, 2016, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Admission is free.

• Publicize this event to your students by posting it on your school website, mentioning it on the morning announcements, putting it in school event calendars, or tweeting it to your students.

• New this year: Register for an OUF Passport – the easiest way for students and counsellors to share contact information with the universities.

• Registration is now open. Students are strongly encouraged to save time and get their Passport in advance: www.ouf.ca/passport.

• Hope to see you at the Fair!
