Holy Michael, the Archangel, defend us
in battle. Be our safeguard against the
wickedness and snares of the devil. May God
rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you,
O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power
of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil
spirits who wander through the world seeking
the ruin of souls. Amen.

GATHERING HYMN
O God, Our Help in Ages Past
O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home. Beneath the shadow of your throne Your saints have dwelt secure; Sufficient is your arm alone, And our defense is sure.
GLORIA
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Fa-ther. Amen.
RESPONSORIAL PSALM R/. The seed that falls on good ground will yield
a fruitful harvest.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION R/. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
NICENE CREED I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of
heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten
Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God
from God, Light from Light, true God from true
God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the
Father; through him all things were made. For us
men and for our salvation he came down from
heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the
Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was
crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and
was buried, and rose again on the third day in accor-
dance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will
come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of
life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who
with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and
I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the
life of the world to come. Amen.

LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST
HOLY, HOLY Mass of Christ the Savior Dan Schutte (b. 1947)
A Pennsylvania Charitable Trust and A Parish of the Diocese of Greensburg
Using the best seeds doesn’t always guarantee the best plants.
An older Italian gentleman straight from Italy gave me these
amazing tomato seeds that he claimed produced the best toma-
toes ever grown. Without doubt, the fruit he shared with me
was a testament to that fact. These tomatoes were amazing! I
couldn’t wait until the next growing season to plant these seeds
and harvest my own tomatoes. The whole experiment ended up
a failure. I did everything the gentleman said, but my fruit did-
n’t even come close. What happened? At first I was perplexed,
then some years later the light dawned. The problem wasn’t the
seeds, it was the soil!
You cannot sow seeds in any old place and in a haphazard
way and expect them to be at their best. It doesn’t work that
way. Planting the seeds is the easiest part. Preparing the soil is
the challenge. Tilling, mulching, enriching, and building up the
nutrients are all required for good fruit. Then after the seeds are
planted, more care is required in order to maintain that healthy,
nutrient rich environment for those seeds to sprout, grow, and
flourish. God happily sows the seeds of his Word. What do we
do with them?
If we expect to be a passive bystander and have good fruit
magically grow, we are mistaken. Bearing the good fruit of
God’s Word requires preparation and work. We have to culti-
vate the soil of our lives so that those seeds can find a proper
home. This one thing alone takes a great deal of patience, time,
and effort. What kind of preparation have we put into our lives
so that we can be a recipient of God’s seed? It takes a great deal
of soul-searching and ego-checking to properly prepare. God is
the ever faithful and persistent sower. If the seeds do not bear
fruit the first time, God will come back time and time again,
giving it another try.
If we have created a suitable bed for sowing, then once the
seed is sown, we must properly maintain them. What is our
maintenance plan for the seeds of God’s Word? We need not
only a source for water but a watering schedule. We need to
weed, aerate the soil, nurture the young plants, protect them,
and provide proper nutrients. What does our spiritual mainte-
nance plan look like? If we have done all things well, imagine
what the seeds of God’s Word could produce in us!

God’s Blessing Sends Us Forth
God’s blessing sends us forth, Strengthened for our task on earth, Refreshed in soul and renewed in mind. May God with us remain, Through us the Spirit reign, That Christ be known to humankind.
God’s news in spoken word Joyfully our hearts have heard; O may the seed of God’s love now grow. May we in fruitful deeds Gladly serve others’ needs, That faith in action we many show.

NEW EVANGELIZATION
The “New Evangelization” is our mission to proclaim
our Catholic Faith first of all, by living the Law of God as
exemplified by His Son Jesus and His human, innocent,
young, Virgin-Mother, Mary. On the first Pentecost after
the Resurrection, Mary oversaw – and from her, as from
His Temple – the Holy Spirit gave a New Birth to His
Mystical Body, the Church. We, the “new” contempo-
rary) believers, must pattern our lives on the examples of
the Crucifixion and the Suffering of his helpless Mother.
Of course, living without sin is impossible, but neverthe-
less this is the goal for which we must strive. Initially
the Apostles, and later their legitimate Successors, the
Bishops, require us to obey the Church’s guidance given
especially through the Council and Papal Documents.

My Dear Parish Family,
It is extremely hard to write and share this information with you. It is hard to believe that I have been the pastor of St. Pius X and
Visitation Parishes for almost 12 years, and the pastor of St. Raymond Parish for over four years. I was hoping to be with all of you
for many more years. Some weeks ago, the Bishop asked me to take on a new assignment. On July 8, I will be the new pastor of
Holy Family Parish, in Latrobe.
Words cannot express the many blessings I have had over these five years as your pastor. Baptisms, First Communions, weddings,
funerals, anniversary celebrations, fundraisers, dinners and social events were a way we truly became a community of faith. Our
weekday and Sunday celebrations were a true faith family experience for me. Believe me, you helped me grow in my priesthood. My
hope is, that in some way, I helped enrich your faith journey and become closer to the Lord.
Thank you for your support over these many years. I ask that you please continue to give of your time, talent, and treasure to St. Ray-
mond. We are truly a vibrant Christian community. I also thank you for understanding my weaknesses and I am sorry if, in any way,
I did not respond to your spiritual needs.
I will not be far away so please stop by and say hello. My new address is
Holy Family Church, 1200 Ligonier Street, Latrobe, PA 15650. Again, thank you for
your prayers, love, and support.
God Bless you all,
Fr. Rick Kosisko, Pastor
My St. Raymond Family,
I want to thank all of you for sharing your kindness and love to me during our welcoming and my birthday celebra-
tion. I was totally surprised by the cake and all the good birthday wishes from everyone. I’m reminded of the Bible
verse, 1 Timothy 4:4: “For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with grati-
tude.” I thank you all very much. Your kindness will remain in my heart.
Yours in Christ,
Father Anthony

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Faith is both a subjective act of trust in God on the
part of the believer and also the objective set of doctrines
set forth in the Nicene Creed. Our understanding and
knowledge of God has evolved over the centuries. The
principal sources of this development are the Sacred
Scriptures, the Fathers of the Church, the Liturgy and the
Church’s Magisterium. The Sacred Scriptures are the
Bible. The Fathers of the Church are the theologians of
the first seven centuries who preached and wrote about
the beliefs and heresies of their times. The Liturgy is the
words and actions that we use in our celebration of the
Sacraments. The Magisterium is the teaching authority
of the Pope and the bishops in union with him, given
especially through the documents of the Ecumenical
Councils. A synthesis of these teachings is presented
in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
BIBLE
The Book of Psalms provides us with models of prayer
to voice our own deepest feelings and aspirations. There
are more psalms of lament – prayers for help in times of
distress – than of any other type, and our greatest distress
is our own sinful state. In his sermons on the psalms,
St. Augustine maintains that humble recognition of one’s
own sins is necessary for forgiveness, but “many concen-
trate less on their own sins than on the sins of others.
Unable to excuse themselves, they are ready to accuse
others. They seek to criticize, not to correct.” Referring
to Psalm 40, he says that “David showed us how to
pray. He did not concentrate on others’ sins; he turned
his thoughts on himself. ‘Sacrifice to God is a contrite
and humble spirit.’ We should be displeased with
ourselves when we commit sin. Search within your heart
for what is pleasing to God.”
