TERM 4 WEEK 8– NOVEMBER 28, 2019
Have a great week Maria
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL This Sunday we begin the Season of Advent, a time for us to reflect on our lives and to prepare to cele-brate the gifts given to us through the birth of Jesus at Christmas. In the first week of this time of prepa-ration, we are called to be people
of joy and hope – joy in all that has been given to us and to have hope in our daily lives, knowing that God is always with us. The Advent Wreath fo-cuses us on our preparation for the great celebration of Christmas. Its can-dles remind us that Jesus is the light of the world and that his coming brought new hope to the people. As Christians, we believe that Jesus has come into our world bringing the good news of the Father’s love. He con-tinues to come into our lives, inviting us, through the day to day interac-tions we have with each other, to recognize and reflect God’s love. As we enter into the season of Advent, take some time with your family to reflect on the true and wonderful meaning of Christmas and how each of us can
bring joy and hope to others.
This week we light the first candle Christ our Light, Shine in our lives with hope and promise. Give us right vision so that we remain attentive to this holy season. Remind us to look for you in small acts of kindness and love. We await your coming with wonder. Amen
Please join us for Advent Mass @ 10am, Monday, 2nd December
Changes to the School Administration System
All Catholic schools will be migrating to ICON
(Integrated Catholic Online Network). St Paul’s has
already begun this process with our administration
system. From this week, our administration system
began to operate from this central platform. As with
any change, time is needed to fully integrate so we
can become accustomed to using ICON suc-
cessfully. Marilena and Fiona, in the office completed their training in
the new system in the last few weeks We ask that during the implementa-
tion of the ICON system, parents are aware that the tasks the office staff
usually complete, may not be fulfilled as quickly as usual. Thank you for
your understanding and patience during this period of familiarisation for
the administration staff.
Thanks to Bashir (Dad of Fred & Sophia) & Sam who picked up the stage from
Parade College yesterday in preparation for our Carols night.
Thank you also to our wonderful sausage
sizzlers, Geoff, Christina and Alex.
Yesterday was our last sausage sizzle for
2019. The students are very appreciative of your work all
year.
Have a great week,
Maria
For these important events!
Tuesday 3rd December @ 6pm.
We are looking forward to this year’s Christmas Carols in our school year. In previous years, this event has been held at Mercy College, however we have listened to parent feedback to have this special event to be at our school. Please note, this event is dependent on the weather. Each class has been busy practising their songs for the evening. The students are looking forward to performing for their families and friends. Come along and BYO everything!
Please see our Christmas Carol invitation in this newsletter.
Wednesday 4th December - all day
No students at school on this day as our staff will meet and begin planning for
2020.
Wednesday 11th December @ 11am
Please join us for Morning Tea in the staff room so we can say
Thank You to all our wonderful parent helpers and volunteers.
This week, our Preps who begin school in 2020 continued their Transition sessions. The children met their Prep teachers, Mrs Cobie and Miss Danielle and their classmates. Parents spent the session learning about our wonderful school and the great opportunities available to parents and children.
On Tuesday the 26th the Year 4 girls were invited to Mercy College. We were excited to be taken there on the Mercy College bus. When we arrived we met with Year 4 girls from other schools and were introduced to the Principal and Deputy Principal who were very nice and gave us a warm wel-come. This was followed by some group activities. These activities included: baking Christ-mas cupcakes, Dancing, Science, Music and Art. My (Sara) favourite part was baking and decorating the cupcakes, plus we got to eat them once we were all finished. I (Meagan) really enjoyed Science because we conducted experiments to make a floating cloud and dancing raises, which was so much fun. After lunch we had a tour of the massive school, it was really cool to see the different parts of the school and also meet their pet lizard named Bunsen. Overall we had a great day! By Sara and Meagan.
Laura, Grace, Alannah, Adrienne and Sophia all participated in their annual concert last week at Good Vibes Dance Studio. Special mention to Laura who received the GVDS Star Award and Adrienne who received the GVDS Excellence in Ballet award.
Congratulations to Eloise S who was recently awarded the 2019 Essendon Keilor Gymnastics champion medal for her level (Gymstar 3). Well done on a year of working hard!
