The Holy Spirit in the Trinity
Happy Trinity Sunday! Today we celebrate the mys-
tery of our belief in three divine persons in One God:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each person in the Trini-
ty goes by many titles. We explored the titles of both
the Father and the Son earlier in the year when explor-
ing the creed. Now I would like to point out the titles
of the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit is the formal title of the third person of the
Trinity. During the Last Supper, Jesus reveals the Ho-
ly Spirit as “Paraclete” and “Spirit of Truth” (John
chapter 19). Paraclete is a Greek word that literally
means “he who is called to one’s side” (CCC692). It
is often translated as “advocate” or “consoler.” He is
someone who we can call to our side to help us during
our trial against temptation. He also reminds us of the
truth.
Every day we face trials against temptation. We were
sealed with the Holy Spirit in Confirmation. When we
say that we believe in the Holy Spirit we believe that
He wants to be part of your life. Don’t be afraid to
call on the Holy Spirit to act as your advocate and to
guide you to the truth. He will help you to overcome
temptation when sin creeps up. He will also help you
to know the truth so that you can make important deci-
sions in your life. Come Holy Spirit, Come!

El Espiritu Santo en la Trinidad
Feliz Domingo de la Santísima Trinidad! Hoy celebra-
Padre Jeff

From the Ashes
Distributed by National Geographic Documen-
tary Films, will be presented at Holy Trinity
parish on June 20 at 7 pm in the Fireside
room. The film captures Americans in commu-
nities across the country as they wrestle with
the legacy of the coal industry, and what its
future should be. From Appalachia to the
West’s Powder River Basin, the film goes
beyond the rhetoric of the “war on coal” to
present compelling and often-heartbreaking
stories about what is at stake for our econo-
my, health and climate.
The film invites audiences to learn more about
an industry on the edge and what it means for
their lives. Discussion and refreshments fol-
lowing the film. Film length 80 minutes.

Quo Vadis Day
June 19, 2017 - June 22, 2017
Location: Camp Howard
“Quo Vadis” is the Latin phrase for “Where are
you going?” Legend tells us that Peter asked Jesus
this question on the outskirts of Rome. And we
know where Jesus went in response to His Father’s
will. Quo Vadis Days is a 4-day camp for young
Catholic men to learn more about the priesthood,
to deepen their faith, and to better discern God’s
call in their lives. Contact the Office of Vocations
for more information at 503-233-8368 or
