-Fr. Joseph Lustig
If you carefully read the Gospel accounts that
involve the Apostle, St. Peter, we can often
wonder how it is that our Lord chose this disci-
ple to be the leader of the first twelve. Peter
seems is quick to temper (think of his actions in
the Garden of Gethsemane), brash in decision
(Christ rebukes him and says, ‘Get behind me
Satan!’), and weak in tight places (Peter denies
Christ three times). He surely doesn’t fulfill the
normal requirements of being a good leader)in
fact St. John was the only apostle, out of the
original band, who remained at the side of Je-
sus throughout His passion. Yet, St. Peter was
chosen by our Lord to be the leader of His
Church. Peter accepted this task and became
the rock and the foundation of Holy Mother
Church and eventually, he too denied himself,
took up his cross, and followed our Lord onto
the mountain of Calvary. Are you also able to
take up your Cross and follow Christ?

-Padre Joseph Lustig
bién cargar tu cruz y seguir a Cristo?
