Southern Coastline of Terra Australis,
Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island (KI) Kangaroo Island is renowned for its impressive and panoramic landscape and its
unique diversity of flora and fauna. The magnificent South Coast is buffeted by winds from the Southern Ocean that have produced astonishing rock formations which shown here taken during my trip.
The calmer north coast has rolling hills, secluded bays with stunning beaches and the highest cliffs in South Australia.
As the third largest island off the coast of Australia, behind Tasmania and Melville Island, Kangaroo Island covers an area of 4,500 square kilometres. 30% of KI’s island environment is protected as natural wilderness. KI’s isolation from the mainland it means that its natural habitat is less exploit by European settlement and human disturbance.
Kangaroo Island is also blessed with a temperate 'Mediterranean'. The warm dry summers and cool gentle winters make it a year round destination. Average daytime summer temperature is 25 degrees centigrade and winter average is 15 degrees centigrade which is perfect weather all year round.
