Pros & Cons of Social Media MarketingPros

• Social media marketing can reach customers that traditional marketing misses.

• It is relationship-building, enabling one-to-one and one-to-many dialogue.

• It is cost-efficient in comparison traditional marketing.

• You can receive quick, honest, and detailed feedback from the customer, which can help you grow your business more effectively.

Cons

• Social media marketing places high demands on your time.

• It also places high demands on your talent - content must be created, edited, approved and published; comments must be responded to and sites and pages must be maintained.

• ROI (return on investment) with social media marketing is a long-haul strategy.

• Relationship-building with customers is a slow process.

• There is the risk of receiving negative comments.

My Conclusion of Social Media Marketing

• Social media marketing has it pros and cons. If you're considering launching a social media marketing campaign, make sure that you understand all the aspects. Proper planning will increase your chances for social media marketing success.

• Deciding whether to use social networks in your marketing comes down to whether or not it’s right for your business. Know that it is not a ‘quick fix’ that will immediately boost your company sales. Think of it as building a long-term relationship with your customers and potential customers.

• Setting up profiles in Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and blogging are free. But be aware that in order for your campaign to work, it will need 100% of TLC.

• Establish a coordinated and consistent approach with all parties involved following the same rules and working as a team.

• Social media marketing takes time – plan to be committed if you want to see results.
