This presentation presents strategies for using delicious.com as a tool for identifying disparate issues in articles and as a method for sharing resources. It was presented at the International Conference on Teaching and Learning with Technology 2008, as part of action research conducted in Innova Junior College 2008.

• 42 JC1 students

• Posting of articles for GP issues content (specifically Crime & Punishment)

• Set up individual delicious.com accounts to post and share 2 or more articles in space of 1 week.

AnalysisEncourages greater reading by students

- 90% agree that delicious helps with the collecting of resources

- 81% agree that they enjoy using delicious more than using the newspaper

- over 70% are gaining more general knowledge and are able to incorporate content from delicious into GP

Analysis67% do not read articles posted by their classmates.

- Inculcate culture of sharing by encouraging discussion of each other’s articles.

48% have accessed delicious on computers away from home

- Highlight the ‘cloud’ feature of delicious to students and encourage mobile surfing.

- 33.3% strongly agree and 66.7% agree that delicious helps them organise their website resources easily

- 25% strongly agree and 75% agree that delicious allows easy sharing amongst colleagues

Analysis25% have reservations on sharing the website resources with students.

- Set up another delicious account for students to access.

33.3% feel that delicious may not shorten the time needed to look for website resources.

- Pre-agreed on a system for tagging or use more specific tag words.
