Mom, Dad, Quin and Charlie lived in a big house in the woods. Otis the cat lived with them too.

Mom wanted a baby. All of her friends were having babies.

Mom!

They decided to get a pet instead. Mom, Quin and Charlie went to the pet store.

Cindy, the sales girl, showed them a hamster. She said, “We call this one ‘Sneakers.’ She escaped and was gone for six weeks, before we caught her.”

Sneakers wanted to be a great escape artist when she grew up. She read about Houdini.

Houdini was a famous escape artist. He could get out of anything.

Mom and the kids took Sneakers home.

They put Sneakers in a nice cage.

The next morning, the kids woke up. Guess what?

Sneakers was gone!

Dad heard a scratching in the wall. He got out his saw and cut a nice hole. Sneakers peeked out.

They caught Sneakers and put her back in her cage. Cool

The next morning, the kids woke up. Guess what?

Guess What?

Sneakers was gone!

Bye Bye!

The family missed Sneakers so much. Mom wondered if maybe Sneakers was still home, but hiding. One night, Mom left a piece of apple on the kitchen floor.

Yum

The next morning, when the family woke up, they found a chewed up apple on the kitchen floor. Everyone danced the “We are so happy Sneakers is alive, Happy Hamster Dance.”

Mom decided to catch Sneakers. She got a ‘Have a Heart’ trap. She put an apple in it.

Yum

That night, Sneakers came out of hiding. She wanted the apple. She went in the ‘Have a Heart’ trap. Yum

When Sneakers went in the trap, the door snapped shut.

She didn’t care.

Sneakers was happy to have the apple to eat.

The next morning, When Dad saw Sneakers in the trap he said, “I want that hamster kept under maximum security!”

Uh Oh

Sneakers was happy in her new cage. She had an exercise ball, a tube to run through, a wheel, and lots to eat.

One day, Quin got invited to a birthday party.

Mom, Quin and Charlie went to the pet store and got another hamster. Quin gave the new hamster to her friend, Kyline.

Kyline named her hamster, Trixie.

Some days, Quin and Sneakers go to Kyline’s house. Sneakers plays with Trixie. She teaches her how to be an escape artist.
