Siemens Remote Diagnostic Services Vibration Diagnostics (vibration analysis on critical turbine components)
Siemens can provide quick scan of global fleet of Siemens turbines as a preventive measure for fleet wide irregularities/early damage detections.
Siemens vibration diagnostics carries out early detection of slowly developing damages allowing for optimized service planning (e.g. mobilization of crane) reducing downtime, service cost and increases WTG output.
Siemens vibration diagnostics is actively used in R&D on monitored components for better reliability. In current and future designs.
Siemens vibration diagnostics is certified by Germanischer Lloyd providing you with a 3rd party quality stamp of our capabilities.
With an OEM vibration diagnostic system installed insurance companies will often allow for better insurance conditions for your wind farm.
Siemens vibration diagnostics carries out early detection of fast developing damages, resulting in preventive repair of components and prevention of fatal breakdown and consequential downstream damage.
Siemens offering world class vibration diagnostic capabilities
Siemens Vibration Diagnostics CASE 1: Slow developing bearing damage
Main Bearing Damage (see illustration) • A main bearing damage is a slow developing damage, as seen in the illustration below. In
this particular case Siemens will notify you that the turbines can be kept producing electricity until planned exchange of component.
• This allows for 1) a visual inspection of the damage and 2) the possibility of optimizing for component exchange, including e.g. mobilization of crane.
• Expected remaining life time of the main bearing after the exchange is another 4-12 weeks.
1) Inspection request when vibration level reach mask maximum.
2) Visual inspection in the WTG 13 days later to find there is a damage to the main bearing
3) 4 weeks from visually inspecting the damage, the main bearing is exchanged and vibration levels become normal again.
Catching faults before they develop into serious issues is an art that Siemens masters
Siemens Vibration Diagnostics CASE 2: Fast developing gear damage
High Speed Pinion Damage (crack in tooth – see illustration) • A high speed pinion damage is a fast developing damage, as seen in the illustration below.
• A high speed pinion damage will automatically result in a shut down of the WTG to prevent consequential damage and the customer will be notified.
• The exchange of a high speed pinion does not require heavy crane.
Waterfall plots covering monitoring in a period of a little less than1 month.
The turbine is automatically shut down to prevent consequential damages. 4 days has passed from first waterfall plot indicating damage until turbine is shut down.
When component is sourced the exchange can take place. Only service crane is needed to carry out lifting of high speed pinion.
Catching faults before they develop into serious issues is an art that Siemens masters
Basic Training A broad range of trainings supplied at 4 training centers
Safety Training
WTG Specific training
Technical Training
Siemens training courses are exclusively offered at Siemens Training Centers in locations: Brande (Denmark), Bremen (Germany), Newcastle (UK) and Orlando (US).
Siemens Rescue TowerTM
Utilization of New Technologies Service at the Touch of a Button – iPad pilot
§ Service technicians require service manuals, safety documentation, service checklists and warranty instructions
§ The electronic system enables technicians to complete their ‘paperwork’ faster
§ In one month service technicians in Texas managed to service 12 instead of the planned 10 turbines
