-GROUP DAY-

-Groups of 8, divided into 2 groups of 4, on rectangular playing area 20 X 40 paces, with 2 goals (cones 3 paces apart) at each endline.

-Use same organization tips from previous lesson, “Endline Hockey.”

-Encourage passing strategies between field and sideline players.

-Encourage sideline players to move along sidelines.

-Rotate groups so the same 2 do not play each other continually.

-Play with additional balls/pucks of varying sizes.

-The object is to score a goal by passing or dribbling without having it intercepted or going out of bounds.

-Four players from each group will be on the court. The other 4 spread out on their respective sidelines. No goalkeepers.

-Begin game with a face-off at midcourt. -The ball must be passed to all group members on the court before scoring.

-Sideline players are to be used for “give and go” passes and to keep the ball in play. Sideline players may not pass to one another.

-A ball that goes out of bounds over the endline is to be put back in play by the group defending that goal.

-After scoring, the other group passes in from midcourt.

-Rotate sideline and field players every 2-3 minutes. -Defenders must be at least 3' away from the player with the ball. (Therefore, possession is not lost if a defender knocks the ball away from an opponent.)

-Use the “Principle of 3’s.” -No body contact. -Illegal touches or body contact will result in loss of ball to the opposition.
