Exposition : The beginning of the story where characters and the setting are revealed. Rising Action : All of the events IN ORDER leading up to the climax

Climax : The highest point of the story, the reader wonders what will happen next . . . will the conflict be resolved or not. The TURNING POINT.

Falling action The events form the climax to the resolution.

Resolution Final outcome or untangling of events in the story. The conflict is resolved. How the story ends

PLOT is… the sequence of events in a story.

Characters

Characterization is the process by which the writer

reveals the personality of a character.

Characterization is revealed through indirect characterization and direct characterization.

What is Characterization?

Direct Characterization : tells the audience what the personality of the character is. Example: “ The patient boy and quiet girl were both well mannered and did not disobey their mother.” Explanation: The author is directly telling the audience the personality of the two children.
