Productive school environment:Junior Farmer Field & Life School (after school)
Currently Scaling up to:
• 6 districts (Mchinji, LL, Ntcheu, Machinga, Mangochi, Dowa)
• 41 sites (36 schools, 3 community, 1 church, 1 refugee camp)
• 123 site facilitators trained (3 from each site)
• 40 youth aged 12-24, half male, half female each site, 1,640 total• Schools provided with all gardening supplies, take home kits and facilitator supplies like
bicycles.

Sustainable Food & Nutrition Pilot 2.5 Years: 2007 – 2009 (evaluation being planned)
commonly called the Permaculture Pilot
• 8 Educational Districts – 10 just added with WFP support
– KA, NB, LL, DZ, ZA, MJ, TH, NS
• 40 Primary Schools - 158 schools just added with WFP support
• 11 Teacher Development Centres
• 1 Teacher Training College (Karonga)
• 143 Trained in Permaculture (teachers, community, agriculture)
• Additional trainings held at school level – estimated to include:
– 400 teachers. 40,000 learners. 1,200 community members.
Data still coming in…there are reports of:
• Information, Skills and Resource Sharing
• Transformed personal homes, workplaces
• Improved eating habits
