What do we want?

• Vision Statement:

“The Shibboleth Consortium will deliver the open-source product of choice for organizations wishing to deploy federated identity. The consortium will be recognized for its quality of software offering and its engagement with the user, standards and development communities.”

What now?

• Recently announced consultation on the proposed future model for Shibboleth.

• It’s a consultation! Tell us what you think.

• Open until the end of October 2011.

• Consortium to open its doors from 01 January 2012.

What’s Available?

• Full Programme Plan, covering team roles, code contributions and development, benefit profiles, stakeholder mapping etc.

• Analysis of Shibboleth Futures survey (Document ‘A ’).

• Review of the Foundation model (Document ‘B ’).

• Proposed Fee Model.

What is ‘Phase 2’

• Will continue to be a Consortium and not seek legal status / to be a Foundation right now.

• Current team is releasing an Expressions of Interest document for someone to give us a home.

• Other organizations will be invited to sign up as consortium members, or to donate to project.

• Members can vote people on to the Shibboleth Consortium Board.

• Everything else stays the same - open, open, open.

Membership rights?

• Organisational representative for the Consortium.

• Right to vote for Board members = say in direction of the project.

• The annual wikipedia approach for contributions.

• Will be supported with management directed documentation on what donations are achieving.
