EID AL- ADHA
Eid-Al-Adha is one of the major holidays of
Islam. According to Muslim tradition, it
celebrates the sacrifice that Abraham was
willing to make of his own son Ishmael when he
was commanded to show his commitment to
Allah.

Eid Al-Adha takes place on the 10th and last
day of the Hajj, the celebration of holy
pilgrimage to Mecca, in the 12th month of the
Islamic lunar calendar.
Often times, fried liver is served for breakfast,
while the rest of the animal constitutes meals
for lunch and dinner. Cooking techniques and
recipes vary from one country to another. In
the Arab world, one of the basic ways to cook
mutton is to braise it with plenty of garlic,
cumin and onion over a slow fire.
During Eid al-Adha, men, women and
children dress in their finest attire, and
those who can afford to sacrifice an entire
halal animal.
Often a sheep or a cow, and in some
regions a camel — and donate the meat
to neighbors and those who are less
fortunate. The meat from the sacrificed
animal is divided into three parts.
