What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Two-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds a second layer of security to your SDSUid account.

How Does MFA Work?

MFA serves as an extra layer of security that uses a second source of validation.

MFA protects against phishing, social engineering, and password brute force attacks and secures the login from attackers exploiting weak or stolen credentials.

Setting up DUO: Part 1

Enter the portal address of duoportal.sdsu.edu in the browser and click Login.

Setting up DUO: Part 5Select your country from the drop‐down list and type your phone number.

Use the number of your smartphone, landline, or cell phone that you'll have with you when you're logging in to a Duo‐protected service.

Confirm the type of device you are enrolling and click Continue.

On iPhone, Android, and Windows phones, activate Duo Mobile by scanning the barcode with the app's built‐in barcode scanner.

With the Duo mobile app open on your cell phone, scan the barcode.

If you are prompted on the mobile app to allow access to your camera, select the OK option.

An automatic passcode will be generated that will register your device with the SDSU Duo security.

After a successful registration, you will see the following screen, which confirms that you can authenticate to any Duo‐protected service.

Click on the Dismiss button to finish.

After your device is registered, you can add another device (recommended) and select what authentication method behavior you will get when you log in (e.g. Push notification or call). You can select Logout when you are done.

Enabling G SuiteTo enable Duo on G Suite, go to the following link and log in:

Authenticate with your SDSUid, sign in, and then click on Enable Duo and then on the Update button.
