WELCOME!

Our purposeVilnius school is a school for students who have special educational needs due to severe learning difficulties and intellectual disabilities.The school provides individualised education, addressing specific needs.

Our nameVilnius special school was established in 1975.In 2016, the name of the school was changed into Vilnius school. The function of the school has not changed.

Our studentsVilnius school has 75 students that have medium to severe special needs.

Their age ranges from 7 to 21 years.

According to their age, students are directed to different grades and groups:

• Lower grades: 1-4;• Higher grades: 5-10;• Social development groups: I, II, III.

Our employeesVilnius school has 54 employees including:• 15 special education teachers;• 10 teacher assistants;• 8 teachers in after-school activities;• 2 speech therapists.

Informal educationOur students have a great choice of informal education activities such as:• Vocal expression;• Ceramics;• Creative arts;• Drama club;• „Viking Village“ activities; • The ABC of leadership;• Self-expression through movement;• Book buddies club.

Individualised activities

Depending on the individual needs students are also involved in other activities such as:• Sessions with speech therapists;• Exercise interventions;• Massages;

Our projects and partnerships

Vilnius school actively participates in a number of projects inside and outside the country:• Project Nordplus Junior with Borge school

in Norway and Kadaka school in Estonia.• Project Erasmus +KA2 with colleagues

from Estonia, Poland and Portugal.

• In August 2016, Vilnius school gained accreditation in European Volunteer Service (EVS). Our school expects to admit a volunteer from Spain in February 2017.

• Our school developed a partnership with Siauliai University. In 2017, the school expects to admit 8 trainees in special education.
