WOMEN’S DAY OF RECOLLECTION Tuesday—Sept. 20, 2016
9:30 AM —2:30 PM Parish Center
Facilitator: Val Hornburg
Images of Grace: Using images to create
your own Scripture/Prayer cards
We will draw upon our favorite scriptures to create our own SoulCollage® imaged prayer cards for reflection and prayer. During this meditative and prayerful day, we will use the no-fail process of SoulCollage® to collect images that resonate with our hearts and souls and spend quiet time reflecting on the beauty and meaning of these cards for us today. There will be time for collecting and gluing images, quiet sharing and deep reflection. If you'd like, bring some of your favorite scripture quotes. There will be many provided for your use. All supplies will be provided.
The day includes prayer, quiet time, sharing and lunch. Suggested donation: $20
Please let us know you are coming Call Vicki Ford 503-774-1428 ext. 123
It’s time to register
for Sunday School &
First Communion
classes Did you receive your registration
mailer? If not, additional registration materials are in the vesti-bule. The Parish Office has not received enough registrations to begin classes on September 25th as planned. Please turn in your paperwork asap so we can begin next week.
We need
Religious Ed
teacher volunteers! Sunday school classes and Liturgy of the Word during Sunday Masses only happen when we have adult teacher vol-unteers. If you are interested in helping teach Sunday School, First Reconciliation/Communion class, or Liturgy of the Word, please contact Desi at faithformation@holyfamilyportland.com or Vicki Ford at 503-774-1428x123. With enough volunteers we can spread out our volunteers. Prayerfully consider being a part of this vital ministry.
CAFÉ Night Volunteers Our Community And Faith Education Night events will start back up in October. We gather for a meal, have a planned topic or event, and spend time together as one faith communi-ty. We are looking for sponsors for our meals/speakers and volunteer “teams” to host (set up/clean up). Our first CAFÉ Night in October will be a “family game night” which was very popular last year. If you would like to volunteer contact Vicki Ford at 503-774-1428 x123 or vicki451@comcast.net.

Gospel Reflection 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time — Sept. 18th
Luke 16:1-13
Today’s Gospel is a parable about a dishonest steward; then Jesus gives two important messages. He says if you can trust someone in little things, you can trust them in bigger things. Second, Jesus says that money should not be more important than God in our lives.
Who do you know that is trustworthy in small
matters? When and how can you be trusted?

Holy Family Catholic School Many of you knew Tim Dieringer as a quiet presence at Holy Family. Tim passed away last August and we all miss the many tasks he completed, seeing him at mass and knowing that he always took care of all the details. When Tim’s estate was settled, Holy Family Catholic School received a sizeable gift for our school endowment. We are grateful to Tim for his complete support of the school. His gift has greatly enhanced our endowment, which was established in 1988 to support the school’s mission. On behalf of Holy Family Catholic School, we express our gratitude to Tim and the entire Dieringer family.
