“Libya Emerging from the Sands”

The Cities of Cyrene, Leptis Magna and Sabratha

By

Elizabeth Gordon

“It is hard to imagine a Roman site more splendid than Leptis Magna, birthplace of Roman Emperor, Septimius Severus, who made it his life's work to create a city worthy of his rank, made of gleaming white marble.”

“As for Sabratha, I doubt whether there is a more beautiful Roman theatre

anywhere.”

“Cyrene, more Greek than Roman, has a magisterial

Doric temple and extensive archaeological treasures.”

Elizabeth Gordon is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music (Piano & Flute).

She lived in Italy for 17 years.

She leads tours to Europe and lectures on cruises.

She now divides her time between lecturing in this country and in the USA (where she has lectured at all the major museums).
