Basildon – Where, What and WhyThe History
• An LSC competition was won by SEEVIC College in partnership with other providers to deliver key areas of learning currently unavailable or considered poor.
• LSC Funding was made available for a new town centre campus 100% funded from a mix of the FE fund and the 16-19 fund.
• The Campus was designed to be a “Debenhams of Learning” with delivery by a number of providers.

Basildon – An Interim solution

• We needed to set up a learning solution very quickly to provide for the high level of NEETs in Basildon.
• Again LSC Funding was made available from the 16-19 fund for an interim solution.
• We received capital approval in April 2008 and needed to be ready for September 2008. It was always going to be a challenge.

• Locating a suitable property led us to the Icon
• 4 retail units which could be joined together available as “Shell and Core” in a newly finished residential block.
