The Spectacular Seda Monastery

High in a treeless valley in China's remote Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture lies the largest Tibetan Buddhist school in the world. Founded in 1980, the Seda Larung Wuming Tibetan Buddhist Institute consists of a few main buildings and a tens of thousands of small dormitories built on the surrounding hillsides. At any given time, the Institute houses up to 40,000 monks and nuns who come from different schools of Tibetan Buddhism: Nyingma, Gelug, Sakya and Kagyu. Students usually take six years to complete the formal training.

Higher levels of training can take 13 years.

Hoch in einem baumlosen Tal in der fernen tibetischen autonomen Garze Präfektur Chinas liegt die größte tibetanische buddhistische Schule in der Welt. Das Seda Larung Wuming Tibetan Buddhist Institute wurde 1980 gegründet und besteht aus einigen Hauptgebäuden und Zehntausenden von kleinen Schlafsälen die auf den umliegenden Hügeln gebaut wurden. Zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt beherbergen die Häuser des Institutesw bis zu 40.000 Mönche und Nonnen, die aus verschiedenen Schulen des tibetischen Buddhismus kommen: Nyingma, Gelug, Sakya und Kagyü. Die Schüler benötigen in der Regel sechs Jahre, um die formale Ausbildung zu vervollständigen. Die höhere Ausbildung kann 13 Jahre dauern.
