Video screen capture with audio narration!

It enables production of short tutorial video files with audio commentary (Meehan and Hyland, 2009; Sparks, 2010).

The clear advantage of a screencast is how it visually shows pupils what the screen should look like and where to click.

When creating your screencasts planning is a crucial key to the process.

Scripting and storyboarding, even for short tutorials, will better prepare you for the recording process and produce a more polished product.

More control You predetermine what’ll be displayed

on the screen No worries about slow loading speeds Although the creation of a slide show

prior to the screencast recording is more time-intensive the elimination of slow loads can make it worthwhile (sparks, 2010)

Once outlined the recording process is usually quicker as you do not have to create screnshots before hand

However, recording your trial runs will help establish your timing

Use the pause button when entering passwords to keep it pacey

ScreenToast tutorials show children exactly what to expect when performing at task

As an ICT tutorial it’s a resource that’s readily available at the point of need – the computer

They’re really good! It’s free It’s fun!
