Our Commitment at Symbiosis Centre for Manage-ment Studies, Pune is to provide a learning environ-ment that attracts ideas from different cultures and thus helps in dissemination of relevant management education and ethical leadership. While academic excellence is our major thrust, students are offered the opportunities to learn, develop skills, grow and expand their horizons with the help of a host of ex-tracurricular activities along with their academics.
The newsletter is a platform to showcase the merits and achievements of our dear students and all associated with SCMS. I am sure the newsletter will serve to reinforce and allow increased awareness, improved interaction and integra-tion among all of us. It is yet another medium to provide acknowledgement and respect for all the efforts of our team. 2019-20 was special for us. SCMS complet-ed 15 years of success. We were awarded Guinness Certificate of participation and we introduced COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) as yet another step towards “Internationalization at Home.”
My thanks to Prof. Neha and Ms. Aditi for bringing out this edition of the news-

Our students have excelled in various platforms and we would like to mention a few of them :
Mr. Vinayak Sharma was awarded the ‘Chancellor’s Gold Medal’ for the Best Outgoing International Student in Under Graduate Programme from Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in the 16th Convocation of Symbiosis Interna-tional (Deemed University) Shri. M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Vice President of India was the Chief Guest for the Con-vocation.
Two students of SCMS won the Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE)- Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) International Competition. Mr. Taha Joher won the 1st Prize in Article Category (Age 19-25) and Ms. Nidhamar-thy Aruna won the first prize in Article Category (Age 15-18) in the YRE-Litter less Campaign Category.
Akhil Singhal's patent application was published in his name. The title of his invention is : ‘Drive system for the bicycle’. Prakhar Tiwari was appointed as City Director, E-Summit, IIT Roorkee. He was PR Intern at Ayodhya Police. Sahil Bharadwaj was part of Lakmé Fashion Week 2020. He did a show for Lakmé on 16 February 2020 Team Encore– the music club of SCMS performed at TedX at SIMS Kirkee Siddhi Kabra and Krishnansh Rastogi, have been selected for Round III of Credit Research Challenge. CRC is India's big-
gest platform to develop capacity in the pivotal "Credit" domain. Step Up performed at Global Village 2019, an event hosted by the renowned NGO organization AISEC in Pune at Liber-

Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune conducted a two day workshop on "Smartphone application, internet and
security" for senior citizens of Viman Nagar campus from 18th – 19th April 2019. The workshop was well received and ap-
preciated by the participants.
Our students in collaboration with Spherule Foundation , RTO Pune, Zaptech PVT LTD and Life Saving Foundation cele-
brated 12 Dec as "No Honking Day". Volunteers spread awareness at major intersections of Pune. The event was covered by
Loksatta.
Students of the Initiate cell visited Nirmala Seva Mahila Vruddhashram, an old age home for women on 14 Sept 2019 .The students spend time with them with lots of singing and dancing and also celebrated the Ganpati Festival.
SCMS Pune continued to sponsor the education of a girl child, an initiative that the institute has consistently undertaken from the last 5 years.
Step Up, the Dance Club of SCMS Pune organised an exuberant event “Nrityachhaya” where they mentored and coached several underprivileged children of Matruchhaya Balakashram to perform a dance in the SCMS campus. The vision of the event was to provide a platform to the children to showcase their talent and receive appreciation for the same. The club aimed to extend a familial bond with them through the language of dance and create a memorable experience for every-one.
15 students of SCMS-Pune along with the mentor, Dr Yogesh Pisolkar went for the first Parikrama of the “Ram Nadi” as an activity of Eco-rangers project The whole parikrama was a good as well as thought provoking experience for all. Students were familiarized with the real world on field problems which need to be solved.
Eco-Rangers of SCMS Pune won three prizes in Closing Ceremony of Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival (KVIFF) 2020 :2nd Prize in Sharing) in Street Play; 3rd Prize) in Ram Nadi Yuva Sansad out 9 invited colleges, 3rd Prize) in Eco-Quiz and SCMS-Pune was also in the final round of Green College Clean College (GCCC) competition
SCMS, Pune was a part of 14th Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival( KVIFF) Pune. As a part of which, films related to wildlife, environment, energy, air and water provided by Kirloskar kar Vasundhara International Film Festival (KVIFF), Pune organizers were screened at SCMS on 4th January 2020
The marketing and social welfare clubs of our college organised a carnival to raise proceedings for a noble cause.

Projects 1 @SCMS Moving towards providing an experience based learning to students , projects
was taken up as a new initiative for students of the first year as two four credit
courses. The aim is to encourage and instill an aptitude of research inquiry
among students in areas of their interest.
E Learning @SCMS
At SCMS Pune blended learning is encouraged through online courses. Our
students have opted for Google certification, Hubspot Certification and have
completed MOOC courses offered by Coursera, Alison, Saylor.org, etc.

ERUDITE 2019 - Online Research Competition
SCMS is proud of its alumni, who have been achieving laurels at different platforms.
We are proud of Pawani Khandelwal (batch 2014-17) who initiated a social enterprise ‘Aatm Nirbhar’ that equips women in small towns with one basic skill that opens up a multitude of avenues for them – riding two-wheelers. They also provide sus-tainable and flexible livelihood opportunities to women from low-income families by employing them as trainers, managers, designers, developers
Aditi Rakesh, a student of 2015-18 batch started her entrepreneurial journey with her company- Ekaa Hygiene And Well-Being LLP. The firm manufactures Organic Sanitary Pads for Women under the brand name 'Confidere' and offers a high-quality product at low costs. This was the outcome of the SCOPUS research paper that she wrote while she was in college. The start-up is now government recognized. In this short duration, the company has managed to expand nationally. On Nation-al Youth Day, media recognized the leading figures from the youth who are working and are emerging success in different fields. In the category of emerging businesses, Aditi’s company was selected as the most successful emerging startup.
Inspired by the thought of contributing to society, Mr. Sanchit Jain (batch 2015-18), decided to work for a non-profit organiza-tion known as Zomato Feeding India. The organization’s main role is to channelize surplus food from different sources to peo-ple in need. Sanchit realized that working towards eradicating hunger and malnutrition is extremely crucial. As of October 2019, there were more than 100 vans running across the country, feeding more than 40,000 people on a daily basis. Individual-ly, with the help of 95 partners and 300 restaurants, he was able to procure and feed approximately 15,000 meals on a daily basis. Sancit also worked with a Member of Parliament on a ongoing bill concerning “Compensation Policies for martyrs of Paramilitary forces in India”

SCMS-Pune had its Alumni meet on 18th January 2020. The event was a
huge success. It witnessed alumni from different batches . The campus
was lively with buzzing enthusiastic Alumni who were keen and excited
to interact with faculty and students.

SCMS conducted a training programme for SCMS students on the topic “Stock Market Operations Training and
Workshop “. The total duration of the course was 30 hours from 8 to 24 August 2019.

conomics for the students of the first year on 18 February 2020.

(COIL)_1 SCMS took yet another step to provide the latest
platforms for learning by implementing COIL 1.0. with an
Institute in USA. SCMS students worked on a project on
Microeconomics together with students of Bridge Valley,
USA. The faculty of SCMS and Bridge Valley co-taught a
case virtually.

Placements SCMS, Pune has a dedicated Placement Division which handholds students with building CV’s to the final selection pro-
cess. As a result, the track record for placements has been rising over the years. KPMG, PwC, Catenon, Tres Vista, MGH

15th Foundation Day celebration
SCMS celebrated its 15th foundation day on 12th July 2019. Mr. Aditya Kitroo, Managing Director- Jos and Fine (Kashmir) AND Mr. Muzammil Hussain, Co-founder—Roots, Ladakh, our Alumni were our Chief Guest.
Common Induction Program
The Common Induction Programme 2019 was held on 15th July 2019,for the new batch of first year students from the three institutes on the SVC Campus – SCMS, SCMC and SID. The Chief Guest for the day, Ms. Parimal Chaudhari, Director-Praj Industries Ltd graced the occasion.
International Business conclave.
International Business Conclave 2019 was conducted on 19th July 2019. It was well appreciated by students and
academicians. The Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker for the conclave was Dr. Naushad Forbes , Co- Chair
man, Forbes Marshall.

Sympulse 2020-Annual Students Fest
