Masai backgroundO The Masai are one of the most well known of

Kenya’s 42 tribesO The general health of the community is poorO Women are encouraged to, and typically do,

give birth each yearO The Masai continue to rely on the traditional

staples: milk, blood, and meat for their nutrition.

Ed colinaO Ed colina has been involved in education for

26 yearsO Traveling to Africa, Ed volunteered with a

renowned organization and NGO NyumbaniO Nyumbani has constructed a Kamba village

for 1000 children and 250 grandparentsO In February of 2008,n Ed began his solo

projects to aid poor Masai women and children living in Athi River, Kenya

Why we should build a school

O The nearest school is 8 kilometer walk awayO Many Masai children do not go to school until the

age 10 or 11, if at all.O Few children reach the 8th gradeO Girls are farther disadvantageO The kids who reach 8th grade the must attend

sub-standard schools with poor teaching and low quality facilities.

eLUAAIO This is where we’re going to build the school

The schoolO This school will cost up to more than

2,000 dollarsO It’ll also provide the children with 1

meal a dayO They’re temporary school is held at

the current church
