"UM" SOCIAL To Be Held November 1st
***The Alumni Association is holding an "Upper Moreland Alumni Social" on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the PALZTap House beginning at 6:30 PM. Palz is located at 1902County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley. ALL Alumni areinvited!! The event features performances by Think Pink FloydBand as well as $5 appetizers, 25/25/50 chances, gift cards,and a chance to reminisce on the glory days. A $5 cover-charge will be in place to cover the expense of the band.

Come out and support the Rob Meehl Foundation! Rob Meehl,Class of 1983, a member of the UMHS soccer and winter andspring track teams, gave so much to Upper Morelandcommunity and now the entire UM community is giving back inhis honor. Rob, who passed away in June, volunteered as acoach for Upper Moreland Little League and a treasurer for theUpper Moreland Soccer Club. Please celebrate Rob's love offriends, family, and community spirit by participating in specialFUNraising events on Saturday, October 25th and Sunday,October 26th. These events benefit the Rob MeehlFoundation, which has been established to raise funds in Rob'sname to support the Meehl boy's college fund, the Meehl familydirectly, and to establish a college scholarship in Rob's nameto be awarded each year to an Upper Moreland High Schoolsenior student who best emulates the qualities ofSportsmanship, Community, and Volunteerism.Saturday evening is a night of fun, food, and music. Sunday'sRob Meehl Sports Fest is a day of sports fun is being plannedincluding a run/walk, baseball, basketball and soccer events forkids up to 8th Grade.

Delaware Valley Collegesenior tailback ChrisSmallwood (Class of 2010) is having astellar season. Smallwoodis 11th in the country with838 rushing yards, and 13trips to the end zone whichranks him fourth in all ofDivision III.
Delaware Valley Collegesophomore insidelinebacker Chris Kitchen(Class of 2013) made hisfirst career start vs.Albright. Chris made ateam-high 10 tackles(seven solo).

Celebrate Together, Thankful, and Help Others
Alum Receives Distinguished Service Award
Former District Governor C. Leon "Lee" Ahlum, Ed.D. (Class of1961) was presented with the Rotary Foundation DistinguishedService Award during a recent Rotary International District 7280Annual Conference. The Distinguished Service Award is the RotaryFoundation's highest service recognition and is given to Rotarianswho have demonstrated exemplary service to the Foundation.Some of Lee's accomplishments for the Rotary Club include raisingnearly $450,000 for the Rotary's Polio Eradication Campaign,organizing training for the Rotary Foundation's Future Vision inorder to provide more funding for local and humanitarian projectsand being the international contact person for ten Matching Grants. These grants have provided an x-ray machine for a TB Clinic inNoida, India; an ambulance for the Gift of Life program in NewDelhi, India; a school bus for special needs students in southernIndia; and provided nearly a thousand school desks in and aboutVijawada, India, so that students no longer had to sit on the floorwhile attending school.

This past June, the Alumni Association was able to providethree David A. Chubb, Sr. Scholarships to graduating seniorswho demonstrated what it was like to be a Golden Bear. DavidA. Chubb, a graduate from the UMHS Class of 1957, was anactive member of the Alumni Association, who volunteered andbecame the voice of the Alumni.
